Recalls that may apply to the 2001 Nissan Sentra
A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.
By component
| 03V511000 | 2003-12-10. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. ON CERTAIN ELECTRIC VEHICLES, THE FRONT SUSPENSION TRANSVERSE LINK'S BALL JOINT BRACKET MAY BREAK FROM STRESS CONCENTRATION AT A NOTCH CREATED BY SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND THE SHAPE OF THE MATERIAL CUT-LINE. Built 2000-01-20 to 2003-03-25. |
|---|---|
| 03V455000 | 2003-11-17. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR OR CAM POSITION SENSOR MAY HAVE AN IMPROPER SOLDER JOINT DUE TO SOLDER DEFORMATION CAUSED BY HEAT STRESS ACCELERATED BY THE EXISTENCE OF FLUX RESIDUE DURING THE SOLDERING PROCESS. Built 2000-01-01 to 2002-06-30. |
| 03V477000 | 2003-11-14. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:MODULE. ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE QG18DE ENGINE OR QR25DE ENGINES, THE FOAM MATERIAL USED FOR THE INTERIOR LINING OF THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) BOX EMITS SULFUR AS IT CURES. Built 2000-01-20 to 2002-07-19. |
| 01V376000 | 2001-12-12. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE VEHICLES WERE MISSING TAMPERPROOF CAPS THAT PREVENT HORIZONTAL HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT. Built 2001-01-16 to 2001-10-31. |
| 01V357000 | 2001-11-16. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 1.8 LITER ENGINE. THE ENGINE COULD STOP RUNNING WHILE BEING DRIVEN DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CRANK POSITION SENSOR. THIS COULD ALSO RESULT IN THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LIGHT COMING ON OR REDUCED ENGINE POWER. Built 2000-01-20 to 2001-05-31. |
| 01V277000 | 2001-08-29. WHEELS. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE COOLING HOLES IN THE STEEL WHEEL MAY HAVE BURRS ON THEIR EDGES AS A RESULT OF IMPROPER MANUFACTURING. THESE BURRS CAN CAUSE CRACKS AS THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. CRACKS CAN PROPAGATE BETWEEN ADJACENT COOLING HOLES. IF ENOUGH CRACKS DEVELOP BETWEEN THE COOLING HOLES, THE WHEEL COULD FAIL AND SEPARATE FROM THE MOUNTING HUB WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. Built 2000-02-01 to 2001-06-26. |
| 01V174000 | 2001-05-23. SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. ONE OR MORE OF THE THREE BOLTS USED TO ATTACH EACH FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARM TO THE BODY ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY MANUFACTURED. Built 2000-07-06 to 2001-04-16. |
| 2003285 | 2003-11-13. Electrical. On certain vehicles, the foam material used for the interior lining of the Engine Control Module (ECM) box out-gasses sulphur as it cures. If one of the resistors inside the ECM has a crack on the surface coating, the gas may cause corrosion of the resistor. This could cause the Malfunction Indicator Light to come on, poor drivability (idle instability, poor acceleration), or the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation. Correction: Dealer will remove the inside lining material from the ECM box. |
|---|---|
| 2003267 | 2003-11-05. Engine. On certain vehicles, the circuit board for the crank position sensor may have an improper solder joint. This could cause the Service Engine Soon warning light to come on, create a no start condition, cause reduced engine power, or cause the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation. Correction: Dealers will replace the crankshaft position sensor and both camshaft position sensors. |
| 2001291 | 2001-12-11. Lights And Instruments. Certain passenger vehicles fail to comply with requirements of C.M.V.S.S. no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment." these vehicles were missing tamperproof caps that prevent horizontal headlamp adjustment these caps are installed to prevent maladjustment of the headlamps. Correction: dealers will install a tamperproof cap over the horizontal adjustment screw for both headlamps. |
| 2001277 | 2001-11-19. Accessories. Certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 1.8-liter engine. The engine could stop running while being driven due to a defective crank position sensor. This could also result in the "service engine soon" warning light coming on or reduced engine power. If the engine stops running while driving, this could result in a crash. Correction: dealers will replace the crank position sensors. |
| 2001219 | 2001-08-29. Other. Certain passenger vehicles. Model year 2000-2001 Nissan Sentra vehicles manufactured from February 1, 2000, through June 26, 2001. The cooling holes in the steel road wheel may have burrs on their edge as a result of improper manufacturing. These burrs can cause stress concentration as the vehicle is being driven. Cracks can propagate these burrs between adjacent cooling holes. If enough cracks develop between the cooling holes, the wheel could fail and separate from the mounting hub without prior warning. Separation of the wheel from the vehicle while being operated could result in a vehicle crash, possibly resulting in personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace all road wheels free of charge. |
| 2001114 | 2001-05-25. Suspension. On certain vehicles, one or more of the three bolts used to attach each front suspension lower control arm to the body on the left and right sides may not have been properly heat treated when manufactured. The bolts could fracture, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the lower control arm attachment bolts. |
| 2000118 | 2000-05-16. Lights And Instruments. Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 101 - Location and Identification of Controls and Displays. Vehicles may be equipped with odometers that record in miles rather than kilometers, as required by the standard. Correction: Odometers that record in miles will be replaced with ones that record in kilometers. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
