SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR INFOTAINMENT ISSUES SERVICE INFORMATION When diagnosing an infotainment issue or after replacement of the AV Control Unit, it is necessary to verify the current software version of the AV Control Unit to determine if a software version update is required. Use the vehicle tables in this bulletin to determine the current software version, if the AV Control Unit requires a software version update, and which procedure to use to update the AV Control Unit. The software updates in this bulletin are to address stability improvements and “bug” fixes. IMPORTANT: If the customer is experiencing a software related concern, refer to NTB21-038 to verify if the customer concern is a hardware or software related issue. If the concern is a software related issue, review the information in this bulletin to update the AV Control Unit as needed.

IF YOU CONFIRM One or more of the following is occurring: - The navigation unit intermittently reboots: - At random or while listening to SXM or on a Bluetooth hands-free phone call. - Loud booming noise from speakers while on a Bluetooth hands-free call. - Navigation unit screen illumination does not change at night as designed. - AM/FM signal strength issues. - A status message ?Voice Recognition is initializing, please wait? is displayed when pressing the voice recognition button 2-3 minutes after the ignition is first turned ON. NOTE: If the message is displayed within the first 2-3 minutes this is normal. The voice recognition is loading phonebook contacts into its system. AND - The Software version has been confirmed as ?needs update? (refer to page 4). ACTION - Perform the SERVICE PROCEDURE starting on page 3 and reprogram the Navigation system with USB memory stick shown below.

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. 2013-2018 FRONTIER AND 2013-2015 XTERRA; TRIP ODOMETER CANNOT BE RESET IF YOU CONFIRM: The reset/change button does not function: -Trip odometer readings cannot be reset/cleared -If equipped: Cannot change from one trip odometer reading to the other -If displayed: Cannot reset the LOOSE FUEL CAP warning message -If equipped: Cannot change modes in the trip computer AND The reset/change button (pin) is stuck in the up or down position. ACTION: Realign the combination meter. If rub marks are seen on the pin, replace it. -Refer to this bulletin?s SERVICE PROCEDURE for combination meter realignment, and reset/change button replacement (if needed).
