Service bulletins for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Check engine light with fault code P3005CA in MRD1 (CDI) Complaint: The check engine light is on, with a possiblility in a reduction of power and the presence of soot in the exhaust sys- tem. Fault code P3005CA: The diesel particulate filter efficiency is insufficient. Additional information: Additional fault codes may be present, related to the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system or the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. Cause: This fault code sets due to the following factors: 1. Damage to the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) unit. 2. The N74 (Soot Particulate Sensor Control Unit) identifies soot or debris located downstream of the SCR Catalyst (underbody). |
| LI49.00-N-078608 | 2024-12-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE. SMOG/Emissions Test fail due to one or more Readiness Monitors not set Complaint: The vehicle has failed the State Emissions Certification because one or more of the OBDII readiness monitors are not completely set. Cause: One or more of the following Readiness Monitors are not fully set within XENTRY: Misfire Monitoring - Injection System Fuel System Monitoring - Injection System, Fuel System, EGR Valve, O2 Sensor NMHC Catalyst Monitoring - NMHC/Diesel Oxidation Catalyst NOx Aftertreatment Monitoring - SCR Catalyst System Boost Pressure System Monitoring - Turbocharger, Charge Air System Exhaust Gas Sensor Monitoring - O2 Sensor, NOx Sensors Diesel Particulate Filter Monitoring - Diesel Particulate Filter System Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Monitoring - EGR Valve and system Remedy: Please complete the required driving conditions to fully set the incomplete Readiness Monitor. DO NOT: - Erase any fault codes. If fault codes are present, process these and allow the readiness drives to clear fault codes. - Flash or SCN code the CDI or SCR control units. - Perform a manual DPF regeneration, unless instructed below. - Disconnect the main battery. |
| LI15.30-N-078528 | 2024-12-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Engine does not start with fault code P30083C in MRD1 (CDI): Complaint: The engine is not cranking over, and the fuse F152/F31 (25A) has blown. Cause: - The diagram below illustrates that if there is a problem with either the 'Dip limiter contact' or the 'Starter solenoid contact' closing, the starter will fail to crank the engine. - When the engine start button (S2/2) is pressed continuously, the starter solenoid's 'Pulling coil' will remain activated until the engine ECU deactivates the starter solenoid relay (F152/kC). This should occur within a maximum of 60 seconds. - Due to the continuous high current draw from the starter solenoid's pulling coil, the 25A fuse (F152/f31) may blow. Remedy: 1. We recommend replacing the 25A fuse with a 30A fuse for F152/F31. 2. Do not press the engine start button (S2/2) continuously, as this may cause the starter solenoid coil to overheat and become permanently damaged. 3. If the engine does not crank or start, please advise the customer to refer to the procedure outlined in the owner's manual. 4. If the engine does not crank or start, instruct the customer to avoid pressing the engine start button (S2/2) continuously or frequently. |
| LI14.30-N-075882 | 2024-12-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Check engine light active - Fault P3007F1, P3007F2, P300CA8, or P300CA9 present in CDI control unit: Check engine warning light active. The following fault codes may be present in the engine control unit: • P3007F1 Leak detected in intake air system or • P3007F2 Mass air flow malfunction in intake air system (cylinder bank 1) or • P300CA8 Leak detected in intake air system or • P300CA9 Mass air flow malfunction in intake air system (cylinder bank 1) or • P300CA9 and P3007F1: Faults are present simultaneously in the quick test |
| LI14.30-N-075882 | 2024-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Complaint Check engine warning light active. Fault code P300CA8 or P300CA9 "Hot film mass air flow sensor malfunction" present in engine control unit. Cause These faults can be set if: 1. A leakage upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger causing a to high EGR rate. 2. Carbonized parts, e.g., the intake module, housing intermediate flange on high-pressure EGR valve (assembly of exhaust pressure sensor P3) or the intake ports also let through too little air. 3. The air filter has been highly soiled, incorrectly positioned or has a deformation. |
| LI49.20-N-075995 | 2023-04-05. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Complaint Vehicles with SCR Generation 4: SCR/AdBlue® warning message cannot be reset. Information: All fault codes in AdBlue® (SCR) control unit have been processed and rectified; however fault code P13DF00 remains active and stored in the AdBlue® (SCR) control unit. Cause The procedure for resetting the SCR/AdBlue® warning message with XENTRY Diagnosis has not been carried out. Information: In order to reset the SCR/AdBlue® warning message for SCR Generation 4, the AdBlue® system needs to be checked. Remedy Follow Diagnostic Instructions |
| LI14.30-N-075882 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Complaint Check engine warning light active. Fault code P300CA8 or P300CA9 "Hot film mass air flow sensor malfunction" is present in engine control unit. Cause a) In the case of fault P300CA8: • Due to incorrectly installed component parts of the clean air line between the air filter box and the exhaust gas turbocharger, it is possible that leaks may occur in the system which subsequently result in air mass faults • A fouled air filter or leaks in the intake or charge air system downstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger may also cause these faults. b) In the case of fault P300CA9: • Computational model for programmed values of air intake, in particular, for the high load mode, calculates this high load correction programmed value incorrectly. This leads to the programmed value drifting too quickly towards the limit. Remedy Install the following add-ons: 18937 for XENTRY 12/2020 18938 for XENTRY 03/2021 |
| LI03.10-N-075843 | 2023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Complaint Engine runs irregularly and it shakes. Indicator lamp lights up. Information: Fault codes for injectors and/or combustion misfires may be stored in the CDI control unit: • On engine 642 cylinder 6 is affected. • On engine 651 cylinder 2 is affected. Cause Charge air from the exhaust gas recirculation is condensed after being introduced into the charge air section. Information: Under certain operating conditions, condensation that has collected in the charge air cooler can enter the combustion chamber to a damaging degree and a damage profile is then generated (connecting rod bent). Remedy Perform following testing and diagnosis operations |
