Recalls that may apply to the 1996 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

By component

United States: NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19
96V0580001996-04-04. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE. THE DRIVE BELT PULLEY ON THE ENGINE CAN DEVELOP FATIGUE CRACKS IN THE METAL AND BREAK. IF THE DRIVE PULLEY BREAKS, THE CAR WOULD NOT HAVE ENGINE COOLING, BATTERY CHARGING, AND/OR POWER STEERING.
Canada: Transport Canada, as of 2026-10-19
19970561997-03-20. Brakes. On certain vehicles, if the front wheels are turned to full lock, the wheel could contact the brake hose and damage the hose. If the brake hose becomes damaged, loss of brake fluid in the front brake circuit may occur which could result in a partial brake system failure and increased stopping distances. Correction: A retaining bracket will be installed on the front brake hoses.

A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
