2022-05-06. Brakes. Issue: On certain vehicles, corrosion could cause the brake booster to fail. If this happens, there may be an increase in brake pedal effort and increase the distance needed to stop the vehicle. In rare cases of severe corrosion, the brake booster could separate completely and cause a loss of brakes. Safety Risk: A loss of brakes can increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz advises you to stop driving your vehicle immediately. The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to contact a local Mercedes-Benz dealership to arrange for towing and an inspection. The dealer will remove the rubber brake booster sleeve and determine whether the vehicle is safe to drive or if it can't be driven and a parts replacement is necessary. Also, depending on the results of the inspection, you may need to return within two years for a re-inspection.

2008-07-09. Other. Certain vehicles may have been programmed with incorrect software calibration data during the manufacturing process. This could affect various functions such as: The electric fuel pump may not receive a signal which, in case of a crash, may prevent the fuel pump from disconnecting as designed; The maximum speed limiter may not be activated; The fuel gauge readings may be incorrect; A stuck fuel-level sensor may not be displayed in the instrument cluster; The speedometer may be out of tolerance which, as a result, may indicate inaccurate vehicle speed; The On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system may reduce the emission level applicable to the vehicle, causing the Check Engine Light to illuminate incorrectly. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the electronic control module.
2008-06-02. Other. On certain vehicles, trailer hitches, whether installed during vehicle assembly, or sold as an over-the-counter accessory and installed by the dealer, may contain inadequate welds and, as a result, could eventually fail. This could allow the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle, causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will repair weld the hitch assembly.
2007-12-21. Engine. On certain diesel powered E320, GL320, ML320 and R320 vehicles, the crankshaft sensor may fail, causing the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor.
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
