Service bulletins for the 2020 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

09-033-232023-10-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit that the glass run channel of the front door interferes with the rear door garnish. Since the front door glass run channel is not fixed to the door strongly enough for the following situations, cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the seal rubber at the rear door. When the front door glass is closed, the glass run channel may be forced to move to the B pillar side. In very hot climates, the glass run channel may expand to the B pillar side.
SA-039-232023-08-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection.
09-014-23a2023-08-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES. Some vehicles may experience white-streak stains appearing on the front door that look like they seeped out from under the outer mirror base. This is caused by water intruding from gaps of the outer mirror body and/or the hinge of the outer mirror, and corrosion occurring on the aluminum die-cast inner base in the outer mirror. Water, including white-salty corrosion, may drip out from gaps under the outer mirror base resulting in white stains on the front door. To eliminate this concern, the front outer mirror inner base has been modified.
SA-036-232023-07-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Interior parts made of resin have antistatic coating to prevent dust from sticking on the surfaces, and depending on the conditions of use, the antistatic components may crystallize slightly, giving an appearance of white stains on the surface. To remove the stains, wipe the stained surface with a towel soaked with water mixed with a small portion of a neutral detergent. If the white stains reappear again, simply wipe them again in the same way. NOTE: The antistatic effect does not deteriorate with this procedure.
SA-009-23e2023-07-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EXTERIOR LIGHTING; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; STRUCTURE. Some customers may complain about any of the following: 1. Engine Start / Stop Door Lock / Unlock Lights ON / OFF 3. MAZDA CONNECT connected vehicle reception strength icon shows "X" or " ".
09-021-232023-06-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience a gap between the glass and the rear door glass run-channel due to run-channel deformation. This causes poor appearance and wind noise when driving at high speed. This concern is due to the incorrect shape of the glass run-channel.
09-018-23a2023-06-04. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit the glass run channel of the front door interfering with the rear door garnish. This is caused by the front door glass run channel not being fixed strongly enough to the door for the following situations where the cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the rear door garnish. When the front door glass is closed, the glass run channel may be forced to move to the B pillar side. During very hot weather, the glass run channel may expand to the B pillar side. To eliminate this concern, the design of the front door glass run channel has been changed to be fixed stronger to the door.
09-018-232023-05-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:DOOR. Some vehicles may exhibit the glass run channel of the front door interfering with the rear door garnish. This is caused by the front door glass run channel not being fixed strongly enough to the door for the following situations where the cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the rear door garnish.

09-017-22a2022-07-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may have rust on the contact parts between the clips (for attaching the roof molding) and the roof panel (ditches of the roof rail). This is caused by the gap between the roof molding attachment clips and the roof panel not being wide enough to allow paint to be appropriately applied to the roof panel. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the roof molding clip has been changed to enable paint application between the clip's rib and roof during the manufacturing process.
09-017-222022-05-05.
09-015-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES. Some vehicles may exhibit corrosion on the liftgate lock striker. This may be caused by water penetrating from micro cracks existing on the lock striker's coating surface that reacts with zinc contained in the undercoating and produces the corrosion. To eliminate this concern, a modified undercoating has been established for the liftgate lock striker.
09-014-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles may exhibit that the glass run channel of the front door interferes with the rear door garnish. Since the front door glass run channel is not fixed to the door strongly enough for the following situations, cycles of door operation may result in interference and lead to damage on the seal rubber at the rear door. *When the front door glass is closed, the glass run channel may be forced to move to the B pillar side. *In very hot climates, the glass run channel may expand to the B pillar side. To eliminate this concern, the following 2 phases have been started as a running change: *Phase 1 **Adhesive has been added between the front door glass run channel and the door panel. *Phase 2 **The shape of the front door glass run channel has been changed so as not to make contact with the rear garnish. **The shape of the clip at the rear side of the front door glass run channel has been changed for stronger fixing and the hole at the door panel has been changed accordingly.
09-013-222022-05-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Some customers may complain that the clip on the rear end of the rear beltline molding is loose and the molding is slightly lifted up. Due to the poor shape of the clip claws, the fitting force to the door body may decrease while in use. To eliminate this concern, the clip has been enlarged in the horizontal direction to improve the fitting force against the door body.
09-008/222022-04-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit water leaking into the passenger compartment from the rear door through the bottom of the service hole behind the rear door trim during rain or when washing the vehicle. This is caused by one of the following: *Since the material of the seal rubber is not resistant to surfactants, the rubber deteriorates when the vehicle is washed and allows water to penetrate into the seal rubber of the service hole cover. *The lower tabs of the service hole cover may not have been completely engaged at the factory. To eliminate this concern, the seal material of the service-hole cover has been changed (Japan built Mazda3) and a mass production change will be implemented in the future (Mexico built Mazda3 and CX-30).
SA-008-222022-03-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection.
