Service bulletins for the 2020 Mazda Mazda3

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

16-002-20-37222020-08-04. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. When the vehicle is in sleep mode, some customers may experience a failed remote control attempt using the MyMazda APP, however, the second attempt works fine and no DTCs are stored. Remote control functions: - Remote Engine Start/Remote Engine Stop - Remote Door Lock/Remote Door Unlock - Remote Hazard Light. This concern may be caused by improper telematics communication unit control software. To eliminate this concern, the telematics communication unit software has been modified
09-017-20-37012020-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience that the door locks may not operate using the touch sensor on the outer door handle while parked in a parking space surrounded by concrete walls, but will operate when using the remote transmitter. This concern may be caused by refraction and/or diffraction of the signal used for the advanced keyless entry system by the steel reinforcement bars in the concrete walls. As a result, the signal will resemble a theft attempt (known as a Relay Attack) and the anti-theft function of the advanced keyless entry system will prohibit door lock operation. To eliminate this concern, the LF control unit software has been modified to reduce the improper detection of the theft attempt.
09-016-20-36932020-05-04. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may find that they cannot lock their vehicle when using the touch sensor (shown below) on the front door handle, however, they can unlock the vehicle. This concern may occur after the vehicle has been recently washed and water has accumulated around the touch sensor, resulting in temporarily lowering the sensitivity of the capacitor sensor. To eliminate this concern, the shape and material of the rubber sheet attached to the touch sensor has been improved.
SA-021-202020-02-27. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:TRUNK LID; EQUIPMENT; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES. The Mexico built Mazda3 trunk has been disabled (interior and exterior switches do not work) during shipment from Mexico to help prevent theft of the key/fob and other accessories as center caps, SD cards etc.hidden in the trunk. This Service Alert describes the steps to retrieve that key/fob (if the key/fob in the main cabin is missing) and the steps for processing warranty depending on missing items or a missing bag.
DRW262019-10-30. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Outline of concern: On certain subject vehicles, it is possible the following concerns may happen when the connectivity service is available. 1. The hands-free capability does not work properly due to a communication error between CMU (Connectivity master unit) and the microphone. 2. The communication failure happens between the TCU (Telematics Communication Unit) and connectivity server due to improper software of the TCU. 3. Door lock operation will work even though the key fob is inside of the vehicle. Outline of repair: Reprogram TCU and C-BCM with modified software, using a specific MDRT3 tool.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
