Service bulletins for the 2022 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Some customers may complain that Mazda Connect does not start (blank screen) or that it takes a long time to restart/ reboot after starting the vehicle. This is caused by the initialization process with the CMU failing at startup due to a defective circuit board element. To eliminate this concern, the internal hardware (DRAM) of the CMU has been improved.

Some vehicles may experience the seat ventilation system still on after the engine has been turned off, in some cases this causes the battery to be completely discharged and not rechargeable. This is caused by a deterioration in the seat ventilation control unit. To eliminate this concern, the material for the circuit of the seat ventilation control unit has been modified.

SA-008-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. STEERING; WHEELS. Some vehicles may exhibit a steering shimmy or body vibration during the PDI test drive or during the first few miles of driving after the vehicle has been delivered to the customer due to flat spots on the tires. Flat spots on tires may be caused by improper maintenance during dealer storage (e.g.: Vehicle was left stationary for a prolonged period of time in high ambient temperatures).
SA-007-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. The rear differential case could develop a crack in the case. NOTE: This could affect new vehicles just delivered to the dealer as well as customer vehicles. This concern is caused when the sliding bearing (1) in the coupling (2) is seized and causes the coupling component to fit loosely. The pinion shaft head (3) then contacts the differential case and causes a crack.
07-002-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Some customers may complain that the ambient temperature on the instrument cluster is displayed more than 50 °F (10°C) lower than the actual temperature, resulting in insufficient performance of the air conditioning. This is caused by inappropriate soldering in the ambient temperature sensor. To eliminate this concern, the soldering process has been enhanced since December 2021 at the supplier.
09-016-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:INSTRUMENT PANEL:SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER. Speedometer replacement procedure
08-001-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. SEAT BELTS; SEAT BELTS:STATUS INDICATOR SWITCH; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEATS. Some vehicles may turn on the passenger seatbelt reminder, even though there is no passenger seated in the vehicle. This concern may be caused by the passenger sensor being too sensitive. To eliminate this concern, the passenger sensor has been modified.
04-001-23a2023-03-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Front Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a click noise when first moving forward or reverse from a stop OR when first applying the brakes while moving forward at slow speeds. This is caused by deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim, the front brake pads move upward/downward along with the brake rotors during brake application. When the vehicle moves or the brakes are applied the next time, the front brake pads move to the other side, which causes a click noise. Front Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles may exhibit the brakes having an unusual noise or vibration when applying the brake. This is caused by rust on the brake disk plate’s surface. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear brakes while braking lightly and occurs more frequently when driving at slow speeds. The noise is caused by poor contact between the guide plate and the mounting support. To eliminate this concern, the material of the pads has been changed to copper-free and the specification of the shims has been changed to a coated spring with tape. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles equipped with an electric parking brake (EPB) may exhibit a grinding noise from the rear brakes when braking. This may be caused by the rear brake pads not having the capability to remove the rust from the rear brake discs. The red rust accumulated on the discs is exposed to high temperatures during braking, and consequently the rust turns black. As the black rust is too hard to be removed by the brake pads, the rust progress is accelerated, resulting in the grinding noise.
01-005-232023-03-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may experience the check engine light ON with DTC P0126:00 (Thermostat stuck open) and one or more of the following symptoms: The engine takes longer to warm up. The engine temperature gauge fluctuates. The low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or comes on while driving. Poor heater performance, especially at idle. NOTE: Vehicles with SKYACTIV-G 2.5T are not applicable. If DTC P2B61:00 (Coolant control valve circuit range/performance) accompanies DTC P0126:00, this TSB is not applicable. Diagnose according to the instructions on MGSS online. Due to production variety of the failsafe thermostat integrated in the coolant control valve, engine coolant may enter into a dry hollow in the failsafe thermostat, resulting in unintended opening of the failsafe thermostat at lower temperatures (104-176 °F (40-80 °C)). To eliminate this concern, the production process of the coolant control valve has been modified.
16-002-232023-02-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update (Version 7000C0A-NA03_11048 or later).

Some vehicles may exhibit DTC U3000:04 (Telematics communication unit internal malfunction) stored after the connected service contract has been discontinued (only vehicles in which the customer opted out of CV services are affected - CSP04). This is caused by improper control software of telematics communication unit. To eliminate this concern, the control software of telematics communication unit has been modified.

The rear differential case could develop a crack in the case NOTE: This could affect new vehicles just delivered to the dealer as well as customer vehicles. SA-006/232023-02-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about the infotainment system and/or the MyMazda App showing incorrect clock and/or tire pressures and/or tire pressure missing. This may be caused by: - Incorrect calendar entry (month/day/year) after a battery disconnect - Infotainment system software update. - BCM TPMS unlearn during vehicle storage or transport. - Wheel/Tire change
