Service bulletins for the 2021 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

To eliminate this concern, the production process of the front harness short cord has been improved to increase waterproof performance.
15-001/222022-02-04. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION; LANE DEPARTURE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) may experience a BSM indicator light on the outer door mirror, even if there is no vehicle in the alert (blind spot) area. NOTE: This concern occurs only after a cold start. As the BSM control module temperature rises, the BSM system returns to normal operation. Due to BSM control module production variances, a false detection may occur in some units when the BSM temperature in the control module has not yet reached normal operating temperature. To eliminate this concern, the control logic of the BSM control module has been modified.

The engine will not start using the ignition switch. 4. The transmitter operates by itself. 5. The key battery drains faster than usual. Symptoms 1-3: This may be caused when excess load is applied to the remote transmitter, deforming the electrical terminals and creating poor contact with the battery. To eliminate this concern, the structure in the remote transmitter has been modified to reduce the deformation of the electrical terminals. Symptom 4-5: This may be caused when excessive load is applied to the remote transmitter, creating a gap around the gasket where moisture enters and corrodes the circuit board which in turn drains the key battery faster than usual. To eliminate this concern, the thickness of the case wall on the gasket mounting surface has been increased and the bonding strength of the components has been improved to prevent deformation. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

09-016-21-3797c2021-12-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit rust or paint peeling at the inside edge of the front door(s). This may be caused by dust adhering between the front door edge and the rear door weatherstrip, which rubs/damages the paint during vehicle operation (door opening/closing and vibration while driving). NOTE: If the rust/paint peeling is seen on the outer side of the door, this service bulletin does not apply.
08-003-21-38372021-12-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; SEAT BELTS:FRONT:WARNING LIGHT/DEVICES; SEATS. Some vehicles equipped with a seat ventilation system may have the passenger seat belt warning light on, even though there is no passenger in the seat. This concern may be caused by an overly sensitive detection of the occupancy sensor. The weight of the seat ventilation unit may be captured by the occupancy sensor, resulting in a false detection.
01-012-21-3832a2021-12-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may have a “LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL” warning message and a CHECK ENGINE light illuminated in the instrument cluster, along with DTC P250F:00 stored in memory. DTC P250F:00 - Engine oil level signal: engine oil level low. Upon inspecting the engine oil level, the level is found to be low and there doesn’t appear to be any trace of oil leakage in the engine compartment. This concern usually occurs when the mileage reaches approximately 3,100 – 4,700 miles (5,000 - 7,500km) and may also occur again after replacing or topping off the engine oil. The root cause of this concern has not been identified yet, therefore a repair procedure will be announced at a later date. Since this issue has been reported after a valve stem seal modification, it is very likely that valve stem seal damage is causing oil to leak into the combustion chamber.
SA-031-21c2021-11-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. A new cylinder head assembly for service parts has been newly established for SKYACTIV-G 2.5 with cylinder deactivation when replacement is needed. Valves, valve springs, valve spring seats, and cotters (IN/EX) are included in the new assembly. Dealers can now utilize the Limited Parts Ordering (LPO) page on eMDCS to order the repair parts for 2.5L (with cylinder deactivation) and 2.5L turbo cylinder head repairs. There is no longer a need to contact hotline for part ordering. If there are any questions on part ordering or part status, contact the DAG group for assistance.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
