Service bulletins for the 2021 Mazda CX-5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SA-010/23 02/09/23 DESCRIPTION Some customers may experience one or more electrical malfunctions after a vehicle body repair. A newly painted fender stay (2) may be causing a poor front harness (1) ground connection. The front fender stay (2) newly painted surface at ground point (3), where attachment bolt (4) is seated, may create a poor front harness ground connection. NOTE: DO NOT paint ground point (3) attachment bolt (4) is seated. NEWLY INSTALLED FRONT FENDER STAY NOTE: CAUTION: If the bolt (4) contact area (3) is painted when the front fender stay (2) is newly replaced, it could cause a malfunction in the PCM. Before painting a newly replaced part, protect the bolt (4) contact area (3) with masking tape (5) as shown in the figure.
SA-039/252025-09-05. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; STRUCTURE:BODY. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage such (melted, separating, etc.) when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection. If a structure's windows create enough of a curve, the concave glass can focus the sun's rays onto a small area and acting like magnifiying glass direct the sunbeams into a hot pinpoint of light. This magnifcation of the sun's rays can cause damage to vehicle trim (see examples). Additional information and exemplar images regarding this phenomenon can be found by performing a google search.
09-022-24b2024-11-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. Some customers may complain that the power liftgate (PLG) may open unintentionally while the vehicle is parked or stopped. Due to the shape of the 7th generation remote transmitter, the power liftgate button may be long pressed unintentionally in a pocket or a bag. To eliminate this concern, the keyless control specification has been modified. The button press time has been increased from 0.5 seconds to 1 second.
SA-058-242024-09-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage such (melted, separating, etc.) when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection.
SA-056-242024-09-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. Interior parts made of resin have antistatic coating to prevent dust from sticking on the surfaces, and depending on the conditions of use, the antistatic components may crystallize slightly, giving an appearance of white stains on the surface. To remove the stains, wipe the stained surface with a towel soaked with water mixed with a small portion of a neutral detergent. If the white stains reappear again, simply wipe them again in the same way.
SA-050-242024-09-04. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some customers may complain that their liftgate does not open. This can mean a range of things, from the liftgate not unlatching to the power liftgate (PLG) not opening automatically. If you confirm that the customer's concern is that the liftgate does not unlatch correctly, follow the repair information below.
09-022-24a2024-08-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY.
SA-036-242024-06-04. Other. STRUCTURE:BODY. Some customers may complain about color discrepancies (brightness differences) of the image displayed on the screen when using the 360°view monitor. As this phenomenon is not a system failure, do not make any repairs or replace any parts. Explain the cause of this occurrence to the customer as follows: The 360°view monitor is a system that provides a complete picture of the vehicle surroundings by combining the pictures captured by 4 separate cameras. These cameras are installed in the front, rear, right and left sides of the vehicle. Each camera has a color adjustment function (white balance) that operates independently from each other, which can result in color discrepancy when the combined picture is displayed on the screen. This is especially true when one of the cameras captures more green objects than the remaining cameras.

09-006-242024-03-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES. Some vehicles may exhibit a creaking or clacking noise when operating the power lift gate (PLG). The noise may be caused by the following: Creaking noise: Dust and dirt accumulates on the sealing portion of the PLG drive unit, reducing sealing performance. Snow and water may enter the PLG drive unit. Humidity then causes rust inside of the unit, resulting in noise. Clacking noise: Since the grease applied on the spring end of the PLG drive unit is insufficient, interference noise is caused when the spring end interferes with the spring guide. The noise has been eliminated by the following mass-production changes: Creaking noise: The sealing structure has been modified to prevent dust/dirt from entering the unit. Clacking noise: The production procedure of the PLG drive unit has been modified to apply sufficient grease to spring end.

09-028-21-3748a2022-01-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Whistling Noise From Front Door Window Glass or Windshield When Driving At Highway Speed: Some customers may complain about a whistling noise heard from the top of the A-pillar area and/or the top of windshield area when driving at highway speeds. When driving under the following conditions, a negative pressure is generated on the doors and the windshield pulling them outward and resulting in weatherstrip vibration. - The vehicle is exposed to a side wind while driving at highway speeds. - The vehicle is exposed to a strong side wind while driving at a speed slightly higher than highway speed. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
09-009-21-3759a2022-01-06. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Rusty Panel at Bottom (Inner Side) of Doors: Some customers may complain about rust at the bottom (inner side) of the doors where the seaming welt is located. 09-016-21-3797c2021-12-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Some vehicles may exhibit rust or paint peeling at the inside edge of the front door(s). This may be caused by dust adhering between the front door edge and the rear door weatherstrip, which rubs/damages the paint during vehicle operation (door opening/closing and vibration while driving). NOTE: If the rust/paint peeling is seen on the outer side of the door, this service bulletin does not apply.
