Service bulletins for the 2021 Mazda CX-5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Some vehicles may exhibit either or both of the following symptoms. 1. The SCBS warning light is illuminated with DTC U045A:68 [FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC)]. U045A:68 Error signal received from parking assist unit 2. The parking sensor indicator is flashing with one or more of the following DTCs of PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM. B1B36:14 Front corner ultrasonic sensor (RH) circuit malfunction B1B36:2A Front corner ultrasonic sensor (RH) characteristic malfunction B1B38:14 Front ultrasonic sensor (RH) circuit malfunction B1B38:2A Front ultrasonic sensor (RH) characteristic malfunction B1B40:14 Front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH) circuit malfunction B1B40:2A Front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH) characteristic malfunction B1B42:14 Front ultrasonic sensor (LH) circuit malfunction B1B42:2A Front ultrasonic sensor (LH) characteristic malfunction Due to insufficient waterproof performance of the front harness short cords (1), water may enter in and accumulate in the C-11 (LH) or C-12 (RH) connectors (2) causing a short circuit between wires and an improper signal being sent from the parking (ultrasonic) sensor to the parking sensor unit. To eliminate this concern, the production process of the front harness short cord has been improved to increase waterproof performance. |
| 15-001/22 | 2022-02-04. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION; LANE DEPARTURE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Some vehicles equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) may experience a BSM indicator light on the outer door mirror, even if there is no vehicle in the alert (blind spot) area. NOTE: This concern occurs only after a cold start. As the BSM control module temperature rises, the BSM system returns to normal operation. Due to BSM control module production variances, a false detection may occur in some units when the BSM temperature in the control module has not yet reached normal operating temperature. To eliminate this concern, the control logic of the BSM control module has been modified. |

| 09-012-21-3801b | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Door Lock Will Not Work Using Remote Transmitter and Engine Will Not Start: Some customers may experience all of following symptoms: 1. The door lock/unlock operation will not work using the remote transmitter button. 2. The door lock/unlock operation will not work using the door lock/release touch sensor. 3. The engine will not start using the ignition switch. 4. The transmitter operates by itself. 5. The key battery drains faster than usual. Symptoms 1-3: This may be caused when excess load is applied to the remote transmitter, deforming the electrical terminals and creating poor contact with the battery. To eliminate this concern, the structure in the remote transmitter has been modified to reduce the deformation of the electrical terminals. Symptom 4-5: This may be caused when excessive load is applied to the remote transmitter, creating a gap around the gasket where moisture enters and corrodes the circuit board which in turn drains the key battery faster than usual. To eliminate this concern, the thickness of the case wall on the gasket mounting surface has been increased and the bonding strength of the components has been improved to prevent deformation. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |
| 01-016-21-3853 | 2022-01-06. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Lack of Power When Accelerating in Cold Temperatures: Some customers may complain about lack of power when accelerating in cold temperatures (below 0 degrees F). To avoid slippage, engine power is restricted in cold temperatures, even when the road condition is not slippery. To eliminate this concern, the PCM and TCM control software has been modified to restrict engine power only when tire slippage is detected between the front and rear wheels in cold temperatures. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. |

| 07-004-21-3830 | 2021-10-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:AIR HANDLER/CHAMBER, DUCTS, AND VALVES. Some vehicles may exhibit insufficient A/C performance / insufficient airflow from vents or ducts. These concerns may be caused by an evaporator temperature sensor malfunction due to insufficient water-proofing. This may result in a detection error and therefore, improper operation of the A/C system. To eliminate this concern, the production process of the evaporator temperature sensor has been modified to ensure proper water-proofing. |
| 01-012-21-3832 | 2021-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; TIRES:VALVE. Some vehicles may have a LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL warning message and a CHECK ENGINE light illuminated in the instrument cluster, along with DTC P250F:00 stored in memory. DTC P250F:00 - Engine oil level signal: engine oil level low. Upon inspecting the engine oil level, the level is found to be low and there doesn't appear to be any trace of oil leakage in the engine compartment. This concern usually occurs when the mileage reaches approximately 3,100 - 4,700 miles (5,000 - 7,500km) and may also occur again after replacing or topping off the engine oil. The root cause of this concern has not been identified yet, therefore a repair procedure will be announced at a later date. Since this issue has been reported after a valve stem seal modification, it is very likely that valve stem seal damage is causing oil to leak into the combustion chamber. |

| SA-004-21c | 2021-10-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. When the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) replacement is necessary due to a failure, use MDARS to activate the new TCU after replacement. Use the information in this service alert to initialize the new TCU until the procedure on MGSS is updated. CAUTION: DO NOT swap TCU with another vehicle as the TCU is VIN locked after activation. A TCU swap with another vehicle will disable Connected Services on both vehicles. If TCU activation is not performed, connected vehicle functions will not operate. This will have a negative impact on the customer because they will need to return to the dealer for repairs. |
