Service bulletins for the 2018 Mazda CX-3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 07-007-19-3638 | 2019-11-21. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some customers may complain about poor heater performance even after the engine reaches normal operating temperature. This may be caused by a plugged heater core. For 2014-2016 Mazda6 and 2013-2016 (US spec) / 2017 (Mexico spec) CX-5, the CHECK ENGINE light may turn on with DTC P011A:00 (ECT sensor No.1/No.2 performance problem) stored at the same time. NOTE: Refer to TSB 01-015/15 if the customer is using a block heater at temperatures below freezing. To solve this concern, two mass production changes have been implemented. a) The concentration of the coolant has been increased so that the amount of the contained anti-rust additive is higher. b) The composition of the coolant has been changed (the ratio of the anti-rust additive has increased). |
| MT-003-19 | 2019-10-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about high engine oil consumption. Before attempting any repairs, verify the complaint by using the guideline below to determine if an engine repair is necessary: |
| MT-002-19 | 2019-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE. If an engine assembly is replaced after a catastrophic internal mechanical failure, clean the intake manifold internally before installing a replacement engine assembly. If the intake manifold is not cleaned properly, the replacement engine may fail prematurely. Metallic debris from the old engine (with catastrophic internal mechanical failure) may rest inside the intake manifold. When the new engine assembly is installed, debris in the intake manifold will be ingested into the new engine and cause internal damage. |
| SA-040-19 | 2019-09-23. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system. |
| 01-016-19-3627 | 2019-08-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may experience a rough idle with the check engine light on and DTC P0015 / P0524 stored in memory. P0015:00 - Exhaust CMP timing over-retarded. P0524:00 - Engine oil pressure too low. This is caused by a drop in engine oil pressure due to a piece of foreign object stuck on the oil pump pressure relief valve or oil control valve (OCV). The temporary entry of the foreign object triggers a check engine light on, but rough idle will not be produced until a later time. |
| 00-003-19-3583 | 2019-03-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. In support of the new MRT distribution, Mazda will ship to dealers a new Dual Purpose Diagnostic Leak Detector beginning March, 2019. Training videos will be posted to MGSS shortly and Workshop Manual procedures will be revised gradually. |
| 01-007-19-3541 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. When the engine is started for the first time after parking the vehicle overnight in cold conditions (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit / 0 degrees Celsius), some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle and/or the check engine light on with any of the following DTC(s) stored in memory. P0300 - Random misfire detected P0301 - Cylinder No. 1 misfire detected P0302 - Cylinder No. 2 misfire detected P0303 - Cylinder No. 3 misfire detected P0304 - Cylinder No.4 misfire detected. This may be caused by frozen water accumulated in the main silencer, restricting exhaust flow. |
| 01-005-19-3548 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0456 stored in the PCM memory. P0456: EVAP system leak detected (very small leak). The concern is most likely the result of the customer not getting the fuel cap completely closed after fueling the vehicle. This causes a small fuel vapor leak and turns DTC P0456 on. |
| 01-004-19-3558 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur tooxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age. |
| 01-003-19-3557 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored inmemory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed. P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display "F0-002" during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km). Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure. |

| 09-037-18-3534a | 2018-11-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. Some vehicles equipped with MAZDA CONNECT may exhibit the following oil maintenance monitor concerns on the center display: The wrench light (Oil Change Due message) cannot be cleared using MAZDA CONNECT/Applications/Vehicle Status Monitor/Maintenance reset menu. The wrench light (Oil Change Due message) is displayed before the oil change is due. Vehicles with multi-information display Vehicles without multi-information display This is caused by only one reset procedure being performed when the oil is changed, usually using the center display. Two reset procedures are required, one is using the trip meter switch to reset the powertrain control module (PCM) and the other is using the center display to reset the connectivity master unit (CMU). To correct this issue, the CMU software has been modified so that the oil maintenance monitor reset operation on the center display resets both the CMU and the PCM at the same time. With this change, there set operation using the trip meter switch is now unnecessary. |
| 01-016-18-3522 | 2018-10-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. | SA-026-18 | 2018-07-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE. If a vehicle is driven on extremely short trips most of the time (where the engine never reaches normal operating temperature), the engine oil may become diluted with fuel and the engine oil level will increase. Engine oil dilution with fuel occurring under this specific driving condition is normal with direct injection engines. If the vehicle is driven on a longer trip after a lot of short trips (where the engine reaches normal operating temperature), the Check Engine Light may turn ON with DTC P0172:00 (Fuel system too rich). |
| 01-013-18-3478 | 2018-07-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. Some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0456 stored in the PCM memory. P0456: EVAP system leak detected (very small leak)The concern is most likely the result of the customer not getting the fuel cap completely closed after fuelingthe vehicle. This causes a small fuel vapor leak and turns DTC P0456 on. |

| 05-004-18-3466 | 2018-05-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may experience the check engine light and automatic transaxle warning light ON with one or more of these DTCs stored in the TCM memory (P0842, P0847, P0872, P0877, P0780, P1738). P0842:00 - Oil pressure switch No. 1 (oil pressure switch B) stuck on P0847:00 - Oil pressure switch No. 2 (oil pressure switch A) stuck on P0872:00 - Oil pressure switch No. 3 (oil pressure switch A) stuck on P0877:00 - Oil pressure switch No. 4 (oil pressure switch B) stuck on P0780:00 - Gear shifting malfunction P1738:00 Automatic transaxle internal malfunction This is caused by the oil pressure switch A and/or B at the control valve body temporarily or permanently getting stuck due to contamination entering the passage. To correct the problem, some mass production changes have been implemented to reduce contamination and improve the DTC diagnostic logic. NOTE: If the vehicle also has a delayed engagement concern, this TSB is not applicable. Refer to MGSS online for proper diagnosis and repair procedure. |
| 04-003-18-3455 | 2018-05-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may report a slight clunk/bang/buzz noise or jolt from the front of the vehicle. This concern will most likely occur during the vehicles first forward movement after starting the engine. This is a normal operating noise of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). Do not attempt any repairs. If you encounter a customer complaint for this concern, explain that the noise comes from the ABS/TCS/DSC "Malfunction Detection Function" initial check and that there is no problem. This initial check is a necessary function to ensure the normal operation of the ABS/TCS/DSC system. It occurs when the vehicles first moves forward under the following conditions. NOTE: Some customers may describe that the noise does not occur all the time. It does occur all the time, but the sound is more likely to be heard on a slow start and not on a quick start (quick acceleration) when engine noise is louder. |
