ON SOME HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ARVINMERITOR AXLE ASSEMBLIES WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH TRW MODEL 20EDL BALL SOCKETS, THE TIE ROD BALL-SOCKET BEARINGS HAVE A BELOW SPECIFICATION CASE DEPTH AND/OR HARDNESS WHICH CAN LEAD TO PREMATURE WEAR OUT OF THE SOCKET IN SOME APPLICATIONS. Built 1999-06-14 to 2000-10-31. |
|---|---|
| 02V061002 | 2002-03-21. SUSPENSION:REAR. ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH DANA SPICER TANDEM DRIVE AXLE MODELS DS463, AN UNDERSIZED ATTACHMENT WELD MAY FRACTURE WITHOUT WARNING. Built 1998-10-01 to 2002-01-16. |

| 00V230003 | 2000-10-04. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS 8 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH FELSTED ELECTRONIC ACCELERATOR PEDALS. THE RETURN SPRINGS CAN BREAK ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDALS THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH STAINLESS STEEL OR ELECTROPLATED WIRE RETURN SPRINGS. Built 1999-02-01 to 2000-08-31. |
| 2002189 | 2002-10-15. Brakes. On certain vehicles, additional axles were installed to increase the gross vehicle weight capacity but the parking brake capacity was not increased accordingly therefore not complying with CMVSS 121 regulations. Correction: The dealer will perform repairs as necessary. |
|---|---|
| 2002132 | 2002-07-22. Steering. Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with TRW 20-EDL Ball Sockets were manufactured with a case depth and/or hardness that were below specifications. A bearing that is below specification may prematurely wear-out the ball socket, which, in turn, may lead to a separation of the tie rod. Correction: Dealers will replace the tie rods. |
| 2002059 | 2002-03-26. Steering. Certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with TRW tie rod ends on certain Meritor axles. The tie rod and drag link ball stud ends contain bearings that are below the specified case depth and/or hardness. This can lead to premature wear with possible separation of the ball stud from the socket, increasing the risk of loss of control of the vehicle. Correction: Dealers will remove and replace all affected tie rods and drag links with different designed ends. Trucks that have been repaired under recall 00v246103/SC0262 will not be re-recalled. Trucks only inspected and determined to have an acceptable date code under SC0262 will be recalled under this campaign. |
| 2002058 | 2002-03-26. Suspension. Certain vehicles with 18,000 lb. front axles may have front springs installed that are rated for the 14,600 lb. front axle. Front spring failure could result in loss of vehicle control. Correction: Dealers will replace both springs. |
| 2002057 | 2002-03-25. Suspension. On certain heavy-duty trucks equipped with Dana Spacer Tandem drive axle models DS463 an undersized attachment weld may fracture without warning. The loss of this attachment to the vehicle chassis can adversely affect vehicle or driver control. Correction: |
| 2000248 | 2000-10-26. Engine. On certain vehicles, the return springs on the accelerator pedals are made of stainless steel or electroplated music wire. The design fatigue stress of the stainless steel springs is in a range that would predict that some failures would occur. The music wire springs can fail due to stress risers created by electrical arcing during electroplating. Correction: Accelerator pedals will be replaced with ones equipped with return springs manufactured of music wire with one additional coil on each spring and with an organic coating, eliminating electroplating. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
