| 2009199 | 2009-07-07. Suspension. On certain vehicles, the front axle beam may not have been manufactured correctly. Transverse shear lines on the bottom of the axle could allow cracks to form which, over time, may cause the axle beam to fail. This could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the axle beam. |

On certain vehicles, additional axles were installed to increase the gross vehicle weight capacity but the parking brake capacity was not increased accordingly therefore not complying with CMVSS 121 regulations. A condition exists on the auxiliary drive shaft of the e-tech engine that causes the loss of power steering on vehicles where the power steering pump is mounted off the front of the engine. This could result in the loss of power steering. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the nut that holds the gear to the auxiliary drive shaft. |
