Recalls that may apply to the 2002 Mack CH
A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.
By component
| 07V401000 | 2007-09-05. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH ASET AC MODEL ENGINES, THE ENGINE AS CONFIGURED WITH AN EXTERNAL EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM MAKES SERVICING THE FUEL INJECTION LINES DIFFICULT WHEN USING TRADITIONAL TOOLS. THEREFORE, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR FUEL LEAKS TO DEVELOP WHEN REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE FUEL INJECTION LINES. Built 2002-01-01 to 2007-01-31. |
|---|---|
| 05V015000 | 2005-01-14. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 DIESEL TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH ASET AC ENGINES, THE LOCATION OF THE FUEL INLET HOSE MAY RESULT IN OVERHEATING OR ABRASION OF THE HOSE, WHICH MAY LEAD TO A PREMATURE FAILURE. Built 2002-08-01 to 2004-12-31. |
| 04V159000 | 2004-04-07. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:PRESSURE RELIEF DEVICES. ON CERTAIN CHASSIS BUILT WITH LNG ENGINES, THE NEXGEN LNG TANK'S PRIMARY AND SECONDARY RELIEF VALVES COULD FAIL TO OPEN AND RELIEVE TANK PRESSURE. Built 1995-04-26 to 2004-02-09. |
| 02V321002 | 2002-11-26. SERVICE BRAKES, AIR. ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH MANIFOLD DASH VALVES WITH PUSH TO CONNECT FITTINGS USED TO CONTROL THE PARK BRAKE FUNCTION ON TRUCKS AND TRAILERS WITH AIR BRAKES, THE PARK KNOB CAN POP OUT UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS WILL EXHAUST THE AIR FROM THE PARK BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE TRAILER AND APPLY THE PARKING BRAKES. Built 2002-06-21 to 2002-10-15. |
| 02V269000 | 2002-10-03. PARKING BRAKE. CERTAIN CLASS 8 CHASSIS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS." THE INSTALLATION OF THE ADDITIONAL AXLE(S), RAISES THE GVW CAPABILITY OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE REQUIRES AN INCREASE IN THE PARKING BRAKE PERFORMANCE TO HOLD ON A 20% GRADE IN ORDER TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD. |
| 02V218000 | 2002-08-05. STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS. ON CERTAIN CLASS 8 CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH R. H. SHEPPARD "M100" STEERING GEARS AND TRW "TAS65" STEERING GEARS, A POWER STEERING HOSE WITH AN INCORRECT PRESSURE RATING WAS INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY. Built 2002-05-31 to 2002-06-12. |
| 2007278 | 2007-08-28. Brakes. On certain trucks, the engine configuration makes servicing fuel injection lines difficult when using traditional tools. It is possible for fuel leaks to develop following recall campaign 2006258 (Mack SC0317) or when line removal is required to gain access to other engine components. Underhood fuel leakage could result in a vehicle fire. Correction: Dealers will install an updated fuel injection line that offers better clamping surface when torqued. This will be done using specially designed tools to ensure correct torque is applied. |
|---|---|
| 2005009 | 2005-01-13. Fuel System. On certain vehicles, the location of the fuel hose used on the ASET AC engine may result in overheating and/or abrasion of the hose, which may lead to a premature failure. If the hose fails, fuel can be sprayed on the exhaust manifold, which could potentially lead to an engine compartment fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel inlet hose. |
| 2002189 | 2002-10-15. Brakes. On certain vehicles, additional axles were installed to increase the gross vehicle weight capacity but the parking brake capacity was not increased accordingly therefore not complying with CMVSS 121 regulations. Correction: The dealer will perform repairs as necessary. |
| 2002148 | 2002-08-01. Steering. Certain vehicles were equipped with an improper power steering high pressure hose between the power steering pump and the steering gear. The hose installed was rated to have a working pressure of 500 PSI instead of the specified 2000 PSI. The hose could develop a leak or burst while in service. If this were to happen, the power assist feature of the steering system would be lost but the actual steering control would still be maintained. Correction: The power steering high pressure hose will be replaced with the proper one. |
| 2002060 | 2002-03-26. Steering. Certain trucks equipped with e-tech engines. A condition exists on the auxiliary drive shaft of the e-tech engine that causes the loss of power steering on vehicles where the power steering pump is mounted off the front of the engine. This could result in the loss of power steering. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the nut that holds the gear to the auxiliary drive shaft. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
