Service bulletins for the 2017 Lincoln MKZ

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

SSM 545042026-01-21. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. Some 2016-2017 Edge/MKX, 2017 Continental/Fusion/MKZ vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L EcoBoost engine and built on 1-Apr-2016 and through 1-Jan-2017 may exhibit white or blue smoke from the exhaust, rough idle in neutral or park at normal operating temperature or after a hot restart. The vehicle may also exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 and/or P0316, P0524 and/or P06DD with excessive oil consumption. Oil consumption may be 1 Liter (1 quart) in less than 4,800 km (3,000 miles). This may be due to the valve guides. To correct the condition replace the cylinder heads. During service and repair, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in timing gear failure and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair. The bolt requires a 4 stage torque procedure. Hold the pulley using a universal holding tool OTC 4754 or equivalent. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-01. The bolt torque procedure can be
TSB 25-23952025-09-03. Service bulletin. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; ENGINE. This article supersedes TSB 24-2345 to update the Service Procedure. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit an oil leak from the engine oil pan RTV seal. This may be due to a lack of RTV adhesion.
SSM 477372019-03-04. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2017-2019 MKZ vehicles equipped with a 2.0 HEV engine may exhibit a fuel filler door unable to be opened or closed with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL) and DTC P04B5. This may occur when the fuel door is pressed or obstructed while the fuel door release latch is operating. If the fuel filler door is unable to be closed, a message displays during the third drive cycle and the DTC P04B5 will set. Before performing Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnosis, reset the system by pressing the fuel filler door release switch and wait 12 seconds for reset. The fuel door release latch should be heard when the motor is in motion. Review fuel filler door for locking tab operation. If the fuel filler door is operating properly, it should not be replaced. Advise the customer about the correct operation of the fuel filler door.
SSM 470902018-05-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:PRESSURE RELIEF DEVICES; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE. Some 2017-2018 Energi and Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a fuel door opening delay longer than 15 sec or unable to open condition without refueling system or fuel door related DTCs. This condition may be due to the high pressure fuel tank pressure transducer (HPFTPT) functionality. Check the HPFTPT after opening the fuel door by releasing the mechanical lever located in the trunk. Install supplemental refueling adaptor in the vehicle to open the capless fuel tank filler pipe. During key on engine off (KOEO) condition check if the fuel tank pressure transducer (FTPT) voltage is between 1.4 1.54 V at atmospheric pressure in the tank. If the voltage is within the range, FTPT is functioning as intended. Check the fuel vapor vent valve (FVVV), also called refueling valve, integrity by following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-00.
SSM 461472017-02-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL; FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER. SOME 2017 MKZ VEHICLES BUILT ON OR BEFORE 20-SEP-2016 MAY EXHIBIT AN INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE READING, ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE READING, INACCURATE DISTANCE TO EMPTY, AND/OR A FUEL GAUGE THAT DROPS FAST AFTER A REFUELING EVENT, WITH NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) STORED IN POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM). REPROGRAM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) USING ONLY THE AS-BUILT DATA METHOD. CLEAR ALL DTCS AFTER PROGRAMMING. MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET WHEN ENTERING MODULE PROGRAMING TO OBTAIN THE LATEST UPDATES. USE CAUSAL PART 10849 AND APPLICABLE LABOR OPERATIONS FROM SECTION 10 OF THE SERVICE LABOR TIME STANDARDS (SLTS)MANUAL. CALIBRATION FILES MAY ALSO BE OBTAINED AT WWW.MOTORCRAFTSERVICE.COM.
