Service bulletins for the 2023 Lexus NX

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

L-SB-0017-252025-04-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 – 2024 model year NX 250 and NX 350, and 2023 – 2024 model year RX 350 vehicles may exhibit both of the following conditions at vehicle startup: •A “Shift System Malfunction” message on the Multi-information Display (MID), as shown below. •Battery voltage drops below 10V. These conditions are more likely to occur when the outside temperatures are near freezing. The Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of these conditions.
L-SB-0036-22 Rev22025-04-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Flash reprogramming allows the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software to be updated without replacing the ECU. Flash calibration updates for specific vehicle models/ECUs are released as field-fix procedures described in individual Service Bulletins. This bulletin details the Global Techstream+ (GTS+) ECU flash reprogramming procedures and outlines use of the Technical Information System (TIS) and the Calibration Update Wizard+ (CUW+). To ensure the correct ECU software is installed, ECUs will require a Security Signature before the ECU will initialize the flash reprogramming sequence. This bulletin also details the process for acquiring a Security Signature from TIS during the GTS+ ECU flash reprogramming process.
L-SB-0013-24 Rev12025-04-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The Immobilizer and Smart Key Reset is a feature that allows the registration of new keys when all master keys are lost. Once the system is reset, all previously registered keys will be erased and can never be reused. Another feature, Add/Remove Key, is also available. Once a key is removed, it can never be reused.
L-SB-0017-19 Rev12025-04-08. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. Some 2010 – 2026 model year Lexus vehicles may exhibit paint stains after the removal of Rapgard™. The paint stains may appear to be under the clear coat but are usually under wrinkles in the Rapgard™. The wrinkles may trap water and cause the paint to stain from the trapped moisture, especially on horizontal surfaces such as the hood, roof, and trunk.

Some 2022 – 2024 model year NX 250, NX 350, NX 350h, and NX 450h+ vehicles may exhibit a MIL ON condition with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P162B87 (Lost Communication with Battery Monitor Module Missing Message). The battery state sensor assembly has been updated to prevent the condition from occurring.
L-TT-0336-24 Rev12024-12-07. Service bulletin. ENGINE. After jump-starting, the vehicle may experience a no-start condition and multiple DTCs including U010087 - Lost Communication with ECM/PCM "A" Missing Message. Upon investigation, it is found that the engine ECU has been damage and needs to be replaced. In several cases, the cause of the ECU damage was improper jump starting. Further investigation found that ECU damage may occur if the negative (ground) cable clamps are attached on or around the engine ECU or mounting bracket. To prevent this condition from occurring, it is recommended that the jumper cables be attached as described in the owner’s manual.
