Service bulletins for the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Issue Customer may complain that ? Gearbox fault is displayed on the Instrument Cluster (IC) Flashing ?D? on the Transmission Control Switch and/or Instrument Cluster (IC) following an ECO Stop/Start event. ONLY DTCs P0715-64 and P0700-02 are stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM) P0715-64 - Input/Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor "A" Circuit - signal plausibility failure P0700-02 - Transmission Control System (MIL Request) - general signal failure. If there are any other DTCs stored in the TCM they must be investigated and rectified prior to carrying out the instruction detailed in this SSM. Refer to the DTC index on TOPIx ? 100-00 General Information ? Diagnostic Trouble Code Index DTC: Transmission Control Module (TCM) NOTE ? The concern detailed in this SSM is applicable to 2017 and 2018 MY vehicles and typically occurs at low mileage (below 2500 miles/4000 kilometres) and affects vehicles fitted with the 8HP45 or 8HP70 automatic transmission. |
| SSM73709 | 2018-07-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE); ENGINE; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Issue: Oil leaking between the automatic transmission and transfer case assemblies which in some instances is being misdiagnosed potentially leading to repeat repairs, for example leaks incorrectly being identified as coming from the rear transmission oil seal or oil pan. Oil weeps through the aluminium casing in the rear extension housing of the transmission in the base of the pocket around where the steel D clutch steel tube is embedded. | SSM73150 | 2018-05-29. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC. Customers may observe a variety of noises during normal vehicle operation that emanate from the wheel / brake disc area of the vehicle. EPQR & TA data provided by retailers to date, shows a varied range of conditions (environmental, drive cycle and road type) that may initiate the known noises. Although the noises do not, in most cases, indicate a degradation in functionality or braking performance, they may lead to customer dissatisfaction and unscheduled retailer visits for repair action. Note: Off road use of the vehicle is not categorised in the communication due to the extended range of parameters and conditions that the vehicle operate at. Defining and describing brake noises is proven to be difficult through our different languages and terminology. In the ?Solutions? section below, there are noise descriptions and Technical Service Bulletins references to aid the repair selection. See ?Action? for further guidance. |

| SGI18-06 | 2018-05-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. A potential issue has been identified on a limited number of Land Rover vehicles within the listed Affected Vehicle Range where, if the message 'Service Required' is displayed within the Instrument Cluster (IC), it cannot be cleared and will continue to display this message at every vehicle start-up. |
| SGI18-05 | 2018-05-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. An issue has been identified on certain vehicles within the listed Affected Vehicle Range where the 'Service Required' message will not appear on the Instrument Cluster (IC) if a vehicle has reached its service point and the engine is started normally by pressing the engine START/STOP button with the brake pedal pressed. Turning on the ignition only, by pressing the engine START/STOP button without the brake pedal pressed, will still allow the 'Service Required' warning message to be displayed. In addition, the latest Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software has introduced a concern relating to the ability to reset the service message indicator. The latest IC software will rectify these concerns. |
