TSB: SAFETY EVALUATION SERVICE CAMPAIGN - GDI LOW PRESSURE FUEL LINE INSPECTION (SC182) - This bulletin provides information to inspect the low pressure fuel line quick connector to the Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) pump on some 2019MY Soul (PS) vehicles produced from April 2, 2018 through May 31, 2018, which may be subject to a fuel leakage and risk of fire. Kia has not received any reports from customers or dealers that this issue exists or has occurred in 2019 Kia Soul vehicles equipped with Gamma 1.6L GDI, Gamma 1.6L Turbo and Nu 2.0L GDI engines. As a precaution, Kia wants to inspect vehicles produced during this time period to determine if any vehicles distributed to dealers may have a loose connector.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires the emissions data from vehicles with a minimum of 3,000 accumulated miles without reprogramming or resetting.

This bulletin provides information relating to all Kia vehicles equipped with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines. In these engines highly pressurized gasoline is injected via a common fuel rail and injectors that deliver fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder. In comparison, in a conventional Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPI) engine, the gasoline is injected into the intake port of each cylinder at a relatively low pressure. Due to high fuel pressure in a GDI system, servicing the GDI system requires special attention and handling procedures. This bulletin provides special service information and specifications for the GDI fuel system components.

TSB: SERVICE ACTION: 1.6GDI ECU LOGIC IMPROVEMENT FOR DTC P0128 (SA363) - This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the logic of the Engine Control Unit (ECU) on certain 2019MY Soul (PS) 1.6GDI vehicles, produced from April 2, 2018 through November 7, 2018, which may experience a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) ON with DTC P0128. To correct this concern, apply the improved logic to the Engine system using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin. For confirmation that the latest reflash has been applied to a vehicle you are working on, verify the ROM ID using the table on page 2 of this bulletin.

PITSTOP: CYLINDER HEAD STEEL BALL INSPECTION AND INSTALLATION - This Pitstop provides information regarding the inspection and installation of the steel sealing ball on: * 3.3L & 3.8L Lambda engines for 2007-2008MY Sorento (BL), * 2.0L Nu engines for 2010-2019MY Soul (AM, PS), and * 1.8L & 2.0L Nu engines for 2010-2018MY Forte (TD, YD/YDm), 2019MY~ Forte (BDm). When replacing the cylinder heads on these engines, inspect the lubrication ports for installation of the steel sealing balls. Current replacement cylinder heads may not be equipped with the required steel balls. Identify and locate the nine (9) lubricant passages on 3.3L and 3.8L engines and three (3) on 1.8L and 2.0L engines and verify a steel ball is installed in each.
