TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: AVN 5.0 WIDE NON-RESPONSIVE RADIO ICON (AM, FM, SXM) - This bulletin provides information to update the software on 5th Generation AVN wide on certain 2020-2023MY Kia vehicles to remedy a 'non-responsive' or 'inoperative' radio (FM, AM, SXM, etc.) concern. The affected AVN unit on the vehicles may not respond when pressing the 'RADIO' hard key/button on the AVN unit or when selecting the 'RADIO' icon on the AVN menu screen. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to update the software on 5th Generation AVN wide units using the applicable USB Flash Drive A or B for the applicable vehicle.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VCU SOFTWARE LOGIC UPGRADE (SA541) - This bulletin provides information to upgrade the software logic of the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) on certain 2023MY EV6 GT (CV GT) vehicles produced from August 25, 2022 through July 20, 2023, to optimize the brake lamp ON/OFF logic to prevent momentary activation and deactivation of the brake lights when regenerative braking is in use while driving over uneven road surfaces (e.g. railroad crossings, raised pavement markers). This condition does not affect brake light activation when the brake pedal is depressed.

VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN: OWNER NOTIFICATION - This document is the owner notification advising that Kia America, Inc. is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to upgrade the Vehicle Control Unit (“VCU”) software logic in certain 2022-2023 MY EV6 vehicles. Kia is conducting this Voluntary Service Campaign to improve the VCU software logic so that the vehicle’s brake lights illuminate during i-Pedal mode when the vehicle reaches a certain deceleration threshold even if you do not release the accelerator pedal fully or depress the brake pedal. Also, this software upgrade will improve the electronic shift logic so that the vehicle will shift into PARK (P) automatically when the auxiliary battery's (12v) voltage is critically low and the vehicle is stationary.

Depending on the results of the inspection, dealers are to either install an improved ICCU software logic or replace the ICCU and ICCU Fuse. The ICCU in the subject vehicle may get damaged due to an over-current condition in the high-voltage system. This condition may cause the illumination of the "Service Warning Light," "Check electric vehicle system", and/or "Stop vehicle and check power supply" warning messages, along with audible beeps, instructing the driver to stop the vehicle at a safe location.

While Kia’s investigation is ongoing, a possible cause of the issue may be third-party applications used by the customer that are causing excessive Kia Connect connections to the customer’s EV.

This bulletin provides information to update the software logic of the Battery Management System (BMS) on some 2022-2023MY EV6 (CV) vehicles produced from November 17, 2021 through February 3, 2023 which have a stored DTC P1AA600. The BMS ECU monitors voltage deviation; if over-voltage deviation between battery cells, poor insulation, abnormal cell voltage changes after charging, abnormal current change during charging, over-voltage, low voltage battery temperature deviation or average cell deviation during driving is detected, the BMU sets DTC P1AA600. This BMS DTC logic improvement will expand DTC P1AA600 into multiple DTCs to aid in proper diagnosis, which reduces the required time and steps outlined in the 'DTC Inspection' on KGIS to determine the fault using 'freeze frame' data.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: SERVICE ACTION: LED HEADLAMP AIM INSPECTION & ADJUSTMENT (SA518) - This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect and, if necessary, adjust the headlamp aim on some 2022-2023MY EV6 (CV) vehicles equipped with Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlamps, produced from August 31, 2022 through November 8, 2022. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is a well-known organization that conducts supplemental testing to evaluate certain aspects of vehicle performance. As a result of such testing, Kia and IIHS have determined that improvements could be made to adjust headlamp aim to improve the focus and reduce glare from the headlamps to oncoming traffic. It should be noted that this condition is not a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) compliance issue.
