The back-up lights offer low visibility when the vehicle is in reverse and bobtail mode. Also, the vehicles have not been equipped with additional unobstructed back-up lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
17V7920002017-12-11. EQUIPMENT. Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2000-2001 International 4700, 2000-2002 4900, 2001-2003 8100 (TranStar) and 9100I, 2002-2003, 2005, 2007-2009, 2012-2014 and 2016-2018 DuraStar, 2012 and 2014-2017 ProStar, 2014-2015 TerraStar, and 2018 LT trucks. These vehicles are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' fire extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf Built 2000-11-16 to 2002-04-09.
05V2960002005-06-24. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES. ON CERTAIN 4X2 AND 6X4 HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE BETWEEN THE BATTERIES AND THE STARTER MAY RUB AGAINST AN ELECTRICAL GROUND CABLE BETWEEN THE STARTER AND FRAME RAIL. Built 2002-04-01 to 2005-06-15.
03V0720002003-03-06. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR. ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS BUILT WITH A DETROIT ENGINE AND A LEECE NEVILLE ALTERNATOR. THE ELECTRICAL TERMINAL AT THE ALTERNATOR END OF THE CABLE THAT RUNS FROM THE STARTER TO THE BATTERY STUD ON THE ALTERNATOR MAY BREAK OFF, DUE TO VIBRATION IN THE CABLE. Built 2001-06-08 to 2002-11-04.
02V3090002002-11-15. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS, THE BOLTS AND LOCKING NUTS USED TO HOLD THE BRAKE SPIDERS OR BRAKE ANCHOR PLATES TIGHT TO THE AXLES WERE UNDER-TORQUED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLES. IF THE CLAMP LOAD ON THE BOLTS IS NOT SUFFICIENT, THE ANCHOR PLATE MAY MOVE WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED IN EITHER THE FORWARD OR REVERSE DIRECTION. Built 2002-07-22 to 2002-08-16.

20232932023-05-18. Lights And Instruments. Issue: On certain trucks, the backup lamps could be blocked and may not be visible. As a result, the trucks don't meet the requirements of the Canadian regulations. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a pintle hook lowering bracket and feature code 01WPN, 01 WPS, or 01VAL. Safety Risk: Backup lamps that aren't visible could cause a person not to recognize that the vehicle is backing and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to install new tail stop/turn signal lamps with integrated backup lamps.
20070162007-01-22. Electrical. On certain trucks, the positive battery cables, that supply power from the batteries to the starter, may rub against an electrical ground cable between the engine and the starter, and electrical ground cable between the frame rail and the starter, or the frame rail itself. This rubbing may cause an electrical short and/or fire, which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealers will re-route the battery cables using new bracketry.
20051902005-06-27. Electrical. On certain vehicles, the positive battery cable between the batteries and the starter may rub against an electrical ground cable between the starter and frame rail. This chafing may cause an electrical short and/or fire, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect to determine appropriate level of remedy required.
20030522003-02-28. Electrical. On certain vehicles, the cable from the starter to the battery stud on the alternator may break off at the alternator end, due to vibration in the cable, if the wire harness is not routed and clipped correctly. If the terminal breaks off, the cab will lose all power, resulting in complete electrical failure and engine shutdown, which may result in an accident and potentially cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealer will reroute and rewire the wiring harness to the alternator.
20022422002-12-17. Brakes. On certain vehicles, the bolts and locking nuts that secure the brake spiders or brake anchor plates to the axles on the right side may have been under-torqued. The nuts cannot back off because they are locking nuts. If the clamp load on the bolts is not sufficient, the anchor plate may move when the brake is applied in either forward or reverse direction. This movement may cause individual brake components to fail or eventually fatigue all the anchor plate mounting bolts. If all bolts break due to fatigue, the worst-case would be complete loss of braking at a wheel end which could result in an extended stopping distance and could cause a collision, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealer will inspect and tighten all suspect bolts.

A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
