Recalls that may apply to the 1998 International 4900
A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

| 2004048 | 2004-02-05. Brakes. On certain vehicles, the Bosch Zero Offset Pin Slide (ZOPS) hydraulic disc brakes may experience calipers sticking in the applied position, which can result in excessive or abnormal heat generation at one or more of the brakes. In bus applications, the combination of the following factors may collectively result in an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety: potential fire at a wheel end, high incident rates of stuck calipers, and evacuation and containment concerns relating to multiple passengers. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs. This is an expansion of Recall 2003053. |

| 2002113 | 2002-06-17. Brakes. On certain trucks the fitting that connects the double check valve to the rear axle air brake relay valve may break. If the fitting breaks the rear service brakes will cease to operate, resulting in an extended stopping distance, possibly resulting in a collision. |
| 2000020 | 2000-01-18. Brakes. On certain vehicles, the s-cam on the front drive axles may experience interference with the knuckle stud as the brake lining wears. This would prevent the s-cam from rotating through its full range of motion thereby restricting the amount of braking force transmitted from the brake shoe linings to the brake drums. Correction: Interfering knuckle studs will be shortened. |
| 1999052 | 1999-03-31. Suspension. On certain vehicles, the radius on the cone of the inner wheel bearing was incorrectly machined resulting in improper seating of the cone against the seal flange of the steering knuckle. Improper seating of the bearing can increase the stress level on the steer axle knuckle spindle as well as bearing movement and excessive bearing end play. This can result in premature bearing wear, eventual fatigue failure of the axle spindle and loss of steering control. Correction: Inner wheel bearings will be inspected for proper seating and bearings that do not seat properly will be changed. The axle spindle and bearing cup will also be inspected for any damage and will be changed as required. |
| 1999025 | 1999-02-22. Steering. On certain vehicles, the tie rod end can pull outboard and separate from the tie rod tube due to improper thread engagement between the male tie rod end and the female tube. A separation of the tie rod end could result in loss of steering control and a possible crash. Correction: The complete tie rod assembly will be replaced on involved vehicles. |
| 1998195 | 1998-09-29. Brakes. On certain vehicles, the transmission flange, parking brake drum and transmission yoke are connected by eight bolts. If the brake drum or transmission yoke are not properly seated when the bolts are installed, subsequent driveline torque applied to the joint will cause the mating parts to fully seat, resulting in loose bolts. Loose bolts can eventually work out or shear resulting in the drum and driveshaft separating from the vehicle which could potentially cause vehicle damage or personal injury or both. Correction: Vehicles will have the torque inspected and be retorqued to specification. |
A campaign lists a year, a make and a model, and often only some of the vehicles built. A list with nothing on it is not a clearance either. The lookups below check one VIN.
