Recalls that may apply to the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq
A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.
By component
| 22V459000 | 2022-06-28. HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM: INVERTER. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ioniq HEV and Ionic PHV vehicles previously recalled under recall number 18V-704. The Power Relay Assembly (PRA) located underneath the rear seat may overheat. |
|---|---|
| 21V944000 | 2021-12-07. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:CHARGING:MODULE:ONBOARD (OBCM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Ioniq electric vehicles. An unstable electrical ground may cause the vehicle to enter a fail-safe mode with reduced acceleration and power. In certain conditions while in fail-safe mode, the vehicle may accelerate after the gas pedal is released. |
| 18V704000 | 2018-10-05. HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM: INVERTER. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid and 2018 Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. The Main Relay within the Power Relay Assembly (PRA) may have inadequate connections between its contacts, causing increased electrical resistance. Built 2016-11-16 to 2017-08-16. |
| 18V260000 | 2018-04-24. HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid vehicles. The Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA) inner oil seal may leak, allowing oil to accumulate in the cap area, possibly resulting in an electrical short. Built 2016-11-16 to 2017-09-20. |
| 17V532000 | 2017-08-28. HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM. Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2017 Ioniq Electric Vehicles. Manufacturing defects within the Electronic Power Control Unit (EPCU) may allow coolant to contact the unit's circuit board. Built 2016-11-17 to 2017-03-30. |
| 2021735 | 2021-12-07. Powertrain. Issue: On certain Ioniq EV models, the vehicle could accelerate after the accelerator pedal is released. Note: This problem can only happen under certain conditions after the vehicle enters "fail-safe" mode. Safety Risk: A vehicle that continues to accelerate could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you bring your vehicle to a dealer to update the electric power control unit (EPCU) software. The dealer will also add additional ground wiring between the drive motor/gear assembly and frame. |
|---|---|
| 2018562 | 2018-10-12. Electrical. On certain Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, the main relay contacts in the Power Relay Assembly located underneath the rear seat may have an inadequate connection. This could increase electrical resistance and generate heat, increasing the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the Power Relay Assembly for signs of thermal damage. If no thermal damage is found, the main relay will be replaced. If signs of thermal damage exist, the Power Relay Assembly will be replaced. Note: This problem may cause the Illumination of the HEV warning light while driving and/or an inability to start the vehicle. |
| 2018203 | 2018-04-25. Electrical. On certain vehicles, the hydraulic clutch actuator (HCA) was produced with burrs that could damage the inner oil seal. A damaged oil seal may create an oil leak that could result in an accumulation of oil in the phase cap area, and eventually cause an electrical short. This could increase the risk of an engine compartment fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will dealers to inspect and, if necessary, replace the hydraulic clutch actuator. Note: This recall only affects IONIQ HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and IONIQ PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) models. |
| 2017433 | 2017-09-07. Electrical. On certain electric vehicles, the aluminium housing of the Electronic Power Control Unit (EPCU) may contain voids which could allow coolant to contact the control unit's circuit board. This could result in a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the EPCU assembly. Note: Ioniq Hybrid and plug-in Hybrid models are not affected by this recall. |
