Service bulletins for the 2016 GMC Yukon
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| PIP5337G | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:LINKAGES; SERVICE BRAKES. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 miles per hour steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will need to run the vehicle in three different operational modes. The three modes are Normal, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed. Technician will need to press and hold the tow-haul mode button for five seconds to disable grade braking to prevent downshifts during test. Technician will need to duplicate the concern in Normal mode. If the concern is gone in torque converter clutch open and closed then the torque converter should be replaced. If the concern is not present in normal mode, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed the concern is not with the shudder. Technician should use of the PICO scope and Noise, Vibration and Harshness software can be used to confirm torque converter clutch shudder, Engine, Tire or Driveline component related conditions. Flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool when the torque converter is replace. |
| PIP5437A | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have harsh concerns. Technician are advised to use GDS2 software to confirm which shift is causing the concern. On low mileage vehicles technician are instructed to perform a drive learn procedure. On higher mileage vehicles technicians are instructed to remove the transmission fluid pan and inspect for debris. If debris is found technicians should disassemble and inspect for root cause of the concern and repair the transmission as needed. If no debris is found technicians are advised to replace the valve body. |
| PIP5437 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have harsh shifts concerns. Technicians will use Global Diagnostic System 2 software to confirm which shift is causing the concern. On low mileage vehicles technician are instructed to perform a drive learn procedure. On higher mileage vehicles technicians are instructed to remove the transmission fluid pan and inspect for debris. If debris is found in the pan, technicians should disassemble and inspect for root cause of the concern and repair the transmission as needed. | 16-NA-175 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. This technical bulletin provides a procedure to flush and drain fluids for the transmission to eliminate a shake and/or shudder during a light throttle acceleration between 40 and 128 KM/H (25 and 80 MPH) at a steady state. |
| PIP5337C | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER; VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician a vehicle may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 mph steady driving. Technician will drive the vehicle while monitoring Torque Converter Clutch slip speed. If the Torque Converter Clutch slip speed is in the range of 10 RPM or less the condition is possibly related to engine performance. If the slip speed is beyond 10 rpm or there is shudder during Torque Converter Clutch apply the torque converter should be replaced following the instructions published in Service Information. |

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0420 and or P0430 stored. Technician should be advised that the catalytic converter efficiency Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0420 and P0430 are disabled for the first hour of engine run time to allow break-in of the catalytic converter. Technician will need to use a Tech2 to check the verify engine run time on the Engine Hour Meter in the Instrument Panel Cluster Data Display/Data 1 List in the scan tool match. If the engine run time is less than one hour, the battery may have been disconnected, or another vehicle power loss event may have occurred, during vehicle manufacturing. Technician will need to clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and perform a drive cycle. If the catalytic converter was replaced and the Diagnostic Trouble Codes set it may be a result of the engine run time restrictions no longer being in place since the vehicle is no longer new. TECHNICIAN WILL TEST TO DETERMINE IF THE CRANK SHAFT END PLAY IS WITHIN SPECIFICATION 0.0015–0.0086 INCH. IF END PLAY IS FOUND TO BE OUT OF SPECIFICATION, REMOVE ENGINE AND INSPECT FOR POSSIBLE CRANKSHAFT THRUST BEARING AND/OR CRANKSHAFT FOR WEAR. INSPECT THRUST BEARING FOR WEAR ON ONE SIDE AND CRANKSHAFT ON THAT “MATING” SURFACE. IF THE THRUST BEARING HAS THREE VERTICAL CHANNELS WORN OFF REPLACE CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS, MAIN BEARINGS, THRUST BEARING AND CRANKSHAFT.
