Service bulletins for the 2015 GMC Yukon XL
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| PIT5318 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; STRUCTURE:BODY:ROOF AND PILLARS. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on a concern of body pressure booming. This concern may be more noticeable when the active fuel management is engages and the engine is in 4 cylinder mode. The roof sheet metal may not be attached to the roof bows any longer. Technician is to follow the steps to apply vibration control material between the roof bow and the roof sheet metal. Any roof bow that is no longer bonded to the sheet metal must be repaired. Remove the old material with an appropriate tool. Once the old material is removed install the appropriate thickness foam shim to fill the gap between the roof sheet metal and the roof bow. The foam should be placed in 5 inch lengths and placed in 5 locations along the bow using vibration control material to fill the distance between the foam shim. If the space between the bow is 6 millimeters or less just use the vibration control material. |
| PIT5308 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that have remote start is inoperative, power lift-gate Regular Production Option Code (TB5) is inoperative with the ignition off, and vehicles equipped with the diesel engine, the blower motor may stay on after the engine is turned off. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P2537 set. Technician will need to Use a voltmeter and check circuit 5985 at the Engine Control Module and Transmission Control Module. If no or low voltage is found, use the wiring diagram in Service Information and perform normal circuit diagnosis. |
| PIP5211 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE; STRUCTURE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician the steps needed to diagnose and repair vehicles with a rough idle and/or vibration at idle in Drive. This condition will not be present in Park, or Neutral. This concern may be caused by ground out within the one or both engine mounts. Technician will use CH-51450-A (Pico Oscilloscope) to measure the vibration disturbance. If the vibration concern is E1.5 in the horizontal / lateral direction with Pico sensor mounted in seat track as indicated - continue with steps to reduce the amplitude of the vibration by adding spacers in key locations to reduce ground out within the engine mounts. The 6.2L engine has a characteristic E1 which can be felt, and may be described as a lopey idle. Do not confuse 6.2L E1 characteristic (not caused by mount ground-out), with E1.5 normal idle characteristics being transmitted into the truck via ground-out thru the engine mounts. If measuring high at the seat track 12 mg or greater; replacement of the engine mounts should help reduce the amplitude of the vibration. If the disturbance measures at the seat track as E 1.5 lateral in the range of approximately 2.5 - 8 mg using a tri-axis sensor. Then place tri-axis Pico sensor on the inboard seat track forward-most location to record measurement of the rough idle vibration concern. With the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning on perform several short heavy launch events from stop to stop to bring the temperatures back up while attempting to re-create the rough idle vibration in Drive with Pico sensor placed on inboard seat track; while the vibration is active - Record Pico reading. This method seems to provide better results than extended test drives. If the Pico reading for E1.5, with vibration active, at specified seat track location measures close to 2mg or less use Service Information to diagnose rough idle / vibration. If the Pico reading for E1.5, with vibration active, at the inboard forward seat track |
| PIT5286 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a pop or scrape noise when the lift gate or lift glass is opened. Technician will need to inspect to see if the truck was built with shims between the left hinge and the spoiler. Technician will need to remove the shims if they are present. If removing the shims does not correct the concern, the spoiler will need to be replaced. |
| PIT5278A | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE; STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles with erratic or hesitation when opening and closing the power lift gate. There may be a diagnostic trouble code B153A set in the power lift gate module. This concern could occur if the left lift gate actuator is internally coming apart. The actuator will need to be replaced however care must be taken when removing the actuator from the vehicle. If the internal portion of the actuator had completely separated the end of the actuator could become a projectile when removed. Obtain a number 8 self-tapping screw that measures 1 ½ inches long. Fully open the lift gate and install the screw anywhere in a 30 millimeter space from the bottom of the smooth tube to secure the tubes. Continue with the lift gate actuator by following the lift gat power assist actuator procedure in service information. |
