Service bulletins for the 2017 Freightliner Cascadia
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.
1143 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

| SB54-336 | 2020-10-12. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Updated Freightliner Service Bulletin for Rewiring the MPC2 Camera Fuse. This bulletin replaces the version dated 9/15/20. Information has been added about raising the system voltage to normal range to clear the "Lost Communication to MPC" code. The multipurpose camera 2 (MPC2) power is supplied via fuse 14 (F14) in New Cascadia vehicles built before August 24, 2020. With this configuration, fault code 232/524127/9 - "Lost Communication to MPC" becomes active during low voltage disconnect (LVD) situations when load shedding is required to maintain critical systems. These instructions provide the procedure for moving the MPC2 power supply from fuse 14 (F14) to fuse 35 (F35). Moving the MPC2 power supply requires the installation of a new etched vehicle power distribution module (VPDM) cover to document the new MPC2 location. |

| SB54-336 | 2020-09-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Rewiring the MPC2 Camera Fuse. |
| SS1034348 | 2020-09-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Service Solution for New Cascadia Unintended 4-way Flashers Activation. As of 8/24/2020 SSAMs received an internal software change that cannot be updated in the field. The software change eliminates the unintended 4-way flasher activation issue documented in this solution. For P4 vehicles built before 8/24/2020 this solutions still applies. |
| SB54-335 | 2020-09-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Optional 30K High-Current Trailer Cord Circuit Breaker Replacement. New Cascadia vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2016 through June 28, 2020 with an optional high current single- or dual-pole trailer cord were equipped with an auto-reset type I circuit breaker mounted in the battery cable access (BCA) box. Since type I circuit breakers can mask potential issues by resetting every time an over-current condition occurs, Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) switched to a manual reset type III circuit breaker on June 29, 2020. This bulletin includes instructions for converting from a type I to a type III circuit breaker, how and where to reset a type III circuit breaker, and conditions to be aware of when troubleshooting a type III circuit breaker. |
| 20CSA-15 | 2020-09-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Customer Service Announcement for Release of DiagnosticLink 8.12 Service Pack 2. | SB54-332 | 2020-07-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Freightliner Service Bulletin for In Rail Battery Box Cable Rub Repair. New Cascadia vehicles ordered with battery box data codes (282-014-BATTERY BOX[ES] MTD IN RL BOC or 29G-001-PLASTIC AUX BATT BOX MTD BTWN RLS) mounted on in rails at the back of the cab, have battery cables that are exposed to rubbing, which may result in excessive chaffing. Chaffing is observed more on the ground cable exiting the box. Typically, the battery rubs are found during the routine battery inspections. The symptoms related to excessive chafing could include low battery voltage faults, or slow or no engine crank. |
| SB54-333 | 2020-07-30. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Service Bulletin for Installing a Fog Lamp Backshell. The connector that attaches to the fog lamp is exposed to water spray from the front tires. Even though the connector is sealed, water spray, in addition to wiring that may be pulled sideways, can cause water intrusion into the connector. A backshell can be added to the connector to provide shielding from direct water spray. It also provides strain relief for the wires entering the connector. |
| SF576REV3 | 2020-06-26. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT; COMMUNICATION. Revised Field Service Campaign sent out to customers to fix Common Telematics Platform (cTP), and Truck Data Center (TDC) communication issues. Certain vehicles built with DTNA's proprietary Common Telematics Platform (CTP), and Truck Data Center (TDC) are not communicating or have outdated software that cannot be updated and, therefore, are unable to benefit from over-the-air software updates. |
| SF610 | 2020-06-26. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; COMMUNICATION; EQUIPMENT. Field Service Campaign for Cascadia CTP Initialization. Certain vehicles equipped with DTNA's proprietary Common Telematics Platform (CTP) are not communicating and, therefore, are unable to benefit from over-the-air software updates. The CTP will be initialized. |
| SS1034740 | 2020-06-26. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Service Solution for CTP Reset Warning When Using DiagnosticLink Version 8.12. Starting with DiagnosticLink version 8.12, a new Common Telematics Platform (cTP) Not Communicating Over the Air symptom based Advanced Diagnostic procedure was released with the intent to resolve specific issues on a certain population of trucks. Please, do not run this procedure unless specifically directed by a DTNA field service representative, or by the Detroit Connect support team. |
| CALFTL54-007 | 2020-05-23. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Customer Advisory Letter for Cab-to-Chassis Redundant Ground Strap Installation - FTL Service Bulletin 54-318. Our records indicate that you are the owner of certain vehicles, and DTNA has decided to share the following documentation with you. On New Cascadia vehicles Penske/Black Horse units built prior to May 23, 2019, cab wiring can be damaged with an incorrect ground location or loose ground connections. This can result in inoperable LIN bus-related steering wheel switches, cruise control dropout, poor AM/FM radio reception, and an inoperable steering wheel clockspring. Installing a redundant ground strap from the main ground junction block (MGJB) to the frame will protect the vehicle from unexpected loss of cab grounding, and restore proper operation of the steering wheel switches, the radio, and the steering wheel clockspring. |
| SB54-327 | 2020-04-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Service Bulletin for Lengthening the Backup Light Harness. Though the backup light harness is long enough to connect to the backup light switch, it may be short enough that the wire seals in the connector can be stressed. Moisture entering through the seals can cause corrosion, resulting in a bad connection and/or failure of the switch. As a result, backup lights and, if equipped, the backup alarm, may not function when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. |
The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
