SSM 506402022-04-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine and a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit harsh 3-2 and/or 2-1 downshifts when coming to a stop in tow/haul mode or when using engine brake mode. Because this is related to a software issue, replacement of the transmission or other components will not resolve this condition and engineering is currently working on a software update which is expected to be available by the end of June 2022. In the interim Perform TSB 22-2015, steps 10-15 only, and evaluate if the concern is resolved. If the concern is still present, let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for June 2022. Monitor OASIS for updates and confirm that the service appointment is going forward once the repair becomes available.
SSM 506362022-03-29. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. 2011-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2023 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C (80°F) and may increase to 1200 RPM at -40 °C (-40°F). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.
TSB 22-20872022-03-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit harsh reverse to drive engagements without diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body or suspect input shaft seals (F9) and the output shaft seals (F10). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to perform the transmission accelerated main control break-in routine for the E and F clutches and/or replace the input shaft seals (F9) and the output shaft seals (F10).
SSM 505642022-03-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), lack of power, and/or excessive turbo noise during operation, with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P003A, P0045, P0046, P0047, P0048, P0234, P0237, P0238, P132A, P2564, P2565, P2598, P259E, and/or P259F stored in the powertrain control module. If Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics lead to turbocharger variable vane actuator replacement, service part LC3Z-9G488-A has been released for service. Replacement of the turbocharger assembly is no longer required.
SSM 505492022-03-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). Some 2018-2020 F-150, 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0000 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after an on-demand self test. This DTC is due to a processing error in the PCM as a result of on-demand self testing. P0000 is an invalid DTC that will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and no repairs should be performed.
TSB 22-20302022-02-16. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles built on 01-Dec-2021 and through 15-Dec-2021 equipped with a 10R140 transmission may leak from the bellhousing of the transmission. This may be caused by an oversized bore in the front support cover. If a leak is found to be coming from the torque converter hub seal in the bell housing please replace the torque converter hub seal and the front support cover to correct the condition.
SSM 504482022-02-04. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL. Some 2017-2022 F-Super-Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a hard start, lack of power and/or runs rough concern with an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0087 and/or P008A. This may be due to low fuel level or fuel gelling in cold ambient temperatures. If no root cause is determined after normal Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test MA, recommend that the customer use a different brand of fuel and use Motorcraft® PM-23-A Diesel Fuel Anti-Gel and Performance Improver. Inform the customer that bio-diesel blended fuels have a higher occurrence of fuel gelling. Fuel gelling and or low fuel conditions causing a P0087 and/or P008A is not covered under warranty.
SSM 504172022-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; EQUIPMENT. Some 2022 F-250 Super Duty 4x4 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine, 10R140 transmission, and 160 inch wheelbase may exhibit a momentary, slight grinding-type noise immediately following a 4-3 downshift while coasting without the brakes applied. This condition does not affect vehicle durability. Replacement of the transmission or other components will not resolve this condition and engineering is currently working on a solution which is expected to be available by July 2022. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for July 2022. Monitor OASIS for updates and confirm that the service appointment is going forward once the repair becomes available.

TSB 22-20152022-02-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift. It is possible the vehicle may also have an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F7, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704 and/or P2705 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM). This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to submit a report a vehicle concern with the collected transmission early alert monitor keep-alive memory (TEAM KAM) data file, then perform the transmission accelerated main control break-in routine for the appropriate clutches and/or overhaul main control valve body.
SSM 502602021-12-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER; POWER TRAIN; POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:LUBRICANT. Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a delayed engagement into drive and/or reverse on initial start-up. The condition may occur at times after sitting over night or for a couple of days. This may be due to the transmission fluid draining back from the torque converter. This is a normal characteristic of the 10R140 transmission and has no effect on durability, do not attempt to repair. Advise the customer to allow more time after first engine start-up and before shifting into gear allowing time for the torque converter to refill.
SSM 502592021-12-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; POWER TRAIN. 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission at times may exhibit a normal skip shift upshifting and downshifting strategy. Typical examples are 1-3 or 3-5 upshift or a 6-4 coasting downshift. This is a normal characteristic and no repairs should be attempted for this condition. For more detailed information about the 10R140 skip gear shift strategy refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 > Diagnosis and Testing.
TSB 21-23802021-11-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or before 05-Oct-2021 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P054E, P054F, P02ED, P2A00 And/Or P2A01 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.
SSM 501152021-09-28. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was originally developed for low mileage vehicles, it has proven effective for resolving many shift and engagement symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.
SSM 499892021-08-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Some 2017-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) may exhibit steering bind or front driveline noise because the hublocks do not automatically disengage immediately following a shift from 4WD to two-wheel drive (2WD). This may be due to driveline tension between the axle and hub keeping them engaged. To correct the condition, shift the vehicle from DRIVE to REVERSE to release the driveline tension. This is a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle and replacement of the hublocks is not recommended. If the concern remains after shifting into REVERSE and allowing the vehicle to move approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters), remove and inspect the hublocks for any damage. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-07A. Repair as necessary.
