Service bulletins for the 2025 Ford Expedition
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SSM 53955 | 2025-06-24. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; SEATS. Some 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with 3rd row power seats may experience an inoperative power fold condition when a seat control switch button is pressed (3L, Center or 3R). This condition may be caused by an obstruction detected during a prior power fold event, triggering a protective lockout. 3rd row seat power fold function may be restored with the following relearn procedure: 1. Start the vehicle and open the tailgate. 2. Remove all items from the 2nd and 3rd row seats including any obstructions that can prevent from folding/unfolding. 3. Slide the 2nd row seats forward. 4. Press and hold the center 3rd power fold seat control button (located between 3L and 3R) for 1 minute. The seats will begin to move. 5. Continue holding the center button for an additional 5 seconds after the seats have stopped moving. 6. Press the 3L and 3R buttons independently to verify that the seats are folding properly. If the inoperative condition remains, continue with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10C. The Owner's Manual and WSM have been updated with this revised procedure. |
| SSM 53891 | 2025-06-19. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with PRBs do not deploy the running boards in auto mode when the easy entry/exit setting for "Approach Detection" is toggled on. This is a change from prior models. Easy entry/exit under Settings in the vehicle's center display screen incorrectly indicate PRBs will deploy if the approach detection is set to ON. This will be changed in a future Digital Experience software update. The Workshop Manual and Owners Manual are also being corrected to explain proper operation of PRBs during Approach Detection. |
| SSM 53880 | 2025-06-11. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2024-2025 Nautilus, 2025 Explorer/Aviator/Expedition/Navigator vehicles may occasionally require a hard reset of the Ford/Lincoln Digital Experience system. To perform a hard reset, press and release the volume button on the center console 5 times within 7 seconds. Some Nautilus vehicles with older level software, may require the volume button to be pressed and held for at least 5 seconds. The Owners Manual is in process of being updated with this information. |
| SSM 53867 | 2025-06-11. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY. Some 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1557:31 in the rear gate trunk module (RGTM) when a diagnostic self-test is performed. If no other symptoms, DTCs or conditions are identified, no further action is required. Replacement and/or reprogramming of the RGTM will not resolve this condition. |
| SSM 53866 | 2025-06-11. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY. Some 2025 Expedition and Navigator vehicles may exhibit a power liftgate/tailgate inoperative condition with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the rear gate trunk module (RGTM). A liftgate/tailgate ajar light may also be displayed in the center display. This may be due to the software in the RGTM. To correct the condition, reprogram the RGTM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). If the condition remains, continue with normal diagnostics per the Workshop Manual (WSM). For claiming, use causal part 14B291 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 53862 | 2025-06-11. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER; BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING; VISIBILITY/WIPER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may experience a "Cross Traffic Alert/Side Obstacle Detection Fault" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B15D9:78 stored in the SODL and/or DTC B159C:78 stored in the SODR. Before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics in Section 419-04, raise the vehicle and carefully inspect both the SODL and SODR modules for proper attachment on the mounting sheet metal, ensure all clips are fully seated (module properly attached) and repair as necessary. |
