Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes a P0AB9 and P0AC4. Technician should not clear any Diagnostic Trouble Codes and ensure Global Diagnostic System 2 is up to date. Technician will need to use Global Diagnostic System 2 and check all modules for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Now use Global Diagnostic System 2 to create freeze frame data from Hybrid Powertrain Control Module and the Engine Control Module and save a report. Technician will need to verify that the vehicle had not been run very low or out of fuel. Also verify the customer did not press the Power Button causing the vehicle to turn off while driving. Verify that the Internal Combustion Engine runs properly and no other engine related or communication related Diagnostic Trouble Codes are present. Technician should inquire if the remote star was used on the last two drive cycles before the Diagnostic Trouble Code set. Technician should update the Engine Control Module if so. Technician should inspect the ground locations G106 (engine block) and G113 (drive unit case) have been cleaned and are secure making sure the ground eyelets do not spin. Technician should also check for past service history for prior mechanical engine or wiring harness repairs. Inspect the cam timing connector and repair any damage. |
| PIP5201 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have misfires or rough running on cold start up. Technician may find a Diagnostic Trouble Code P0300. Technician will need to use a scan tool and observe Crankshaft Position Re-sync Counter parameter. The Re-sync Counter parameter should remain at 0 during all operating conditions, and while manipulating the related harnesses and connectors between the crankshaft position sensor and the Engine Control Module. Technician will need to inspect for water intrusion in related connectors, terminals, and components. Tech will need to bring the vehicle up to engine coolant temperature that was stored when Diagnostic Trouble Code P0300 was set. After the engine coolant temperature is up to temperature technician will need to perform compression and cylinder leakage and record the readings. Technician should also verify correct fuel system pressure, inspect the heated oxygen sensors for contamination from fuel, silicon, or the incorrect use of room temperature vulcanization silicone sealant, and inspect the spark plugs for incorrect heat range, coolant or oil fouling, carbon tracking, cracks or insulator fractures at the tip. Technician should also Test for coolant contamination into the cylinders. |

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code?s P0AB9 in set in the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module and P0AC4 set in the Engine Control Module. Technician should not clear any Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Technician will need to verify that the vehicle has not been run very low or out of fuel, customer did not key off while driving, and the engine runs properly and no other engine related or communication related Diagnostic Trouble Codes are present. Technician will need to check for clean and tight ground location G106 and G113. |
| PIP4871C | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have Malfunction Indicator Lamp on. Technician my find Diagnostic Trouble Code P1B0F and or Diagnostic Trouble Code P1B10 set in the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module. Dealer should explain to the customer that inadvertently shutting the vehicle off while in motion (out of park) may cause this Malfunction Indicator Lamp to illuminate, and this is design intent. |
