This preliminary informational bulletin adds the 2016 model year to diagnostic tips and repair information to correct a customer concern of reduced acceleration at low speed and/or transmission slipping from a launch, DTC P0751 set.
PIP55042017-10-04. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. This Preliminary Information communication provides information and definitionsto the technician about vehicles that have fishbite, chuggle, misfire,AFM disturbances or torque converter shudder/vibrationconcerns. Technician are advised to use PICO software to determine root cause of the concern. If torque converter shudder is confirmed and no debris is found in the transmission fluid pan the technicians are instructed to flush the transmission fluid three times. If debris is found in the transmission fluid pan the technicians are instructed to also replace the torque converter.

This Bulletin provides guidelines for Dealers required to contact the PQC for engine or transmission assembly replacement and explains the PQC process, GWM Transaction submission, vehicle service record retention and proper handling of assembly returns.
PIP54462017-08-15. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Harsh Shift 1/2 and 2/3 and Sputter Applying Throttle Between 0 and 30%, Rough idle. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0101, P0171, P0172, P0174, and or P0175. Technician should inspect for cast flashing near the Mass Air Flow sensor as seen below.
PIP5382H2017-08-15. Service bulletin. WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER. This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician that generation 5 engines with Regular Production Option Code L83, L86, or LV3 may have an oil consumption concern were one quart in 2000 miles is being used. Dealer will confirm oil level was properly checked per Owner’s Manual, and check the bolt torque on the Valve Lifter Oil Manifold Assembly, before doing any repairs to the vehicle.

THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE TECHNICIAN WITH THE STEPS ON DIAGNOSING AND REPAIRING VEHICLES THAT MAY HAVE UNWANTED GRADE BRAKING, REDUCED ENGINE POWER WITH NO DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER MESSAGES “ BRAKE PEDAL OVERRIDE FEATURE “, TRANSMISSION BUSY OR FREQUENT SHIFTING UP OR DOWN, AND DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES P057B, P057C, AND/OR P057D MAY OR MAY NOT BE SET. TECHNICIAN WILL USE THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION TO FIND THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION DATA PARAMETERS IN THE SCAN TOOL, AND ALSO TO PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC HELP. THESE ISSUES MAY BE CAUSED BY AN INCORRECT BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR INPUT TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. TECHNICIAN WILL VERIFY WITH THE SCAN TOOL IF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE HAS THE CORRECT PARAMETERS FOR THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. IF AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR RELEARN IS PERFORMED, THE TRUCK MAY BE TEMPORARILY REPAIRED UNTIL THE INTERMITTENT WIRING ISSUE BETWEEN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR OCCURS AGAIN. ON 2014 AND NEWER TRUCKS INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGE TO X115 AND X119. ON THE 2014 AND PREVIOUS TRUCKS INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGE TO X205.
PIP5248B2017-03-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE TECHNICIAN ON THE STEPS NEED TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR VEHICLES THAT MAY HAVE STALLING SHUDDER AND/OR HARD SHIFTING INTO 1ST GEAR OR REVERSE VIBRATION ON LAUNCH (WITH EXCESSIVE CRANKSHAFT END PLAY). TECHNICIAN WILL TEST TO DETERMINE IF THE CRANK SHAFT END PLAY IS WITHIN SPECIFICATION 0.0015–0.0086 INCH. IF END PLAY IS FOUND TO BE OUT OF SPECIFICATION, REMOVE ENGINE AND INSPECT FOR POSSIBLE CRANKSHAFT THRUST BEARING AND/OR CRANKSHAFT FOR WEAR. INSPECT THRUST BEARING FOR WEAR ON ONE SIDE AND CRANKSHAFT ON THAT “MATING” SURFACE. IF THE THRUST BEARING HAS THREE VERTICAL CHANNELS WORN OFF REPLACE CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS, MAIN BEARINGS, THRUST BEARING AND CRANKSHAFT. IF WORKING ON A CORVETTE THE OIL TANK WITH LINES AND OIL COOLER ARE BOTH REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED IF EQUIPPED.
SB-16-NA-1302016-08-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; EQUIPMENT. THIS INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN PROVIDES INFORMATION ON HOW TO INSPECT THE UPPER VALVE BODY TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT RPO USAGE TO CORRECT A CONCERN THAT AFTER INSTALLATION OF A REPLACEMENT UPPER VALVE BODY, THE TRANSMISSION MAY HAVE NO REVERSE AND NO 2ND GEAR DUE TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE INCORRECT UPPER VALVE BODY.
PI1344B2016-07-07. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Some customers may comment that the vehicle has reduced acceleration at low speed and/or transmission is slipping from a launch. Technicians may find DTC P0751 set or stored in history. This condition may be caused by the Clutch Select Solenoid Valve 2 (359), located in the lower valve body, sticking in its bore resulting in a 4th gear start. Note: This condition can be very intermittent and difficult to duplicate.
