Technician will test to determine if the crank shaft end play is within specification 0.0015–0.0086 inch. If end play is found to be out of specification, remove engine and inspect for possible crankshaft thrust bearing and/or crankshaft for wear. Inspect thrust bearing for wear on one side and crankshaft on that “mating” surface. If the thrust bearing has three vertical channels worn off replace connecting rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearing and crankshaft. If working on a Corvette the oil tank with lines and oil cooler are both required to be replaced if equipped

PIP55092017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary information communicates Auto Stop message on the DICNote about Auto Stop message on DIC. It appears that anytime the engine comes to a stall or near stall the "Auto Stop" message on the DIC will light momentarily (just a second and may blink on several times then go out).It is unknown why this anomaly occurs. It appears this gauge cluster can be used with an auto stop vehicle even though trucksdo not have auto stop at this time. It may be for future use on other trucks. Bottom line is ignore this message and fix the issue of stalling or near stall concern.
