PIP5245B2018-01-16. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose vehicles with various noises associated with four wheel drive operation. Before beginning any diagnosis it is imperative to review the Symptoms - Transfer Case in Service Information and perform the necessary inspections. In all cases the complaint vehicle should be compared to another like vehicle before beginning any repairs.
GCUS-3-3112017-12-22. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. 15396B - Service Update (Parts Information revised). This bulletin provides a service procedure to install the original design temperature-sensor wiring harness to the valve body on certain 2015 model year Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado; and GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles, equipped with a 6.2L engine (L86) and 8-speed automatic transmission (M5U). The supplier of the transmission-wiring harness introduced an unapproved change to the temperature sensor (thermistor), resulting in incorrect oil-temperature readings during transition from cold to warm temperatures. This could cause a harsh shift when starting the vehicle at temperatures below 32ºF (0ºC); however, shift quality improves once the transmission oil warms up.

PIP5337J2017-12-14. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 miles per hour steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will need to run the vehicle in three different operational modes. The three modes are Normal, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed. Technician will need to press and hold the tow-haul mode button for five seconds to disable grade braking to prevent downshifts during test. Technician will need to duplicate the concern in Normal mode. If the concern is gone in torque converter clutch open and closed then the torque converter should be replaced. If the concern is not present in normal mode, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed the concern is not with the shudder. Technician should use of the PICO scope and Noise, Vibration and Harshness software can be used to confirm torque converter clutch shudder, Engine, Tire or Driveline component related conditions. Flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool when the torque converter is replace.

PIP55312017-12-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps need to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have stalling shudder and/or hard shifting into 1st gear or reverse vibration on launch (with excessive crankshaft end play). Technician will test to determine if the crank shaft end play is within specification 0.0015–0.0086 inch. If end play is found to be out of specification, remove engine and inspect for possible crankshaft thrust bearing and/or crankshaft for wear. Inspect thrust bearing for wear on one side and crankshaft on that “mating” surface. If the thrust bearing has three vertical channels worn off replace connecting rod bearings, main bearings, thrust bearing and crankshaft. If working on a Corvette the oil tank with lines and oil cooler are both required to be replaced if equipped

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 mph steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will drive the vehicle and monitor the torque converter clutch slip. The torque converter clutch slip speed should be 10 rpm or less also note if the shudder takes place during torque converter clutch apply. If the torque converter clutch slip speed is in the range of 10 RPM or less the condition is possibly related to engine performance. If the shudder is only present in 4 cylinder mode and torque converter clutch slip is 10 rpm or less deem the shudder concern normal characteristic of Active Fuel Management. If the slip speed is beyond 10 rpm or there is shudder during torque converter clutch apply the torque converter will need to be replaced. Also flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool.
