Service bulletins for the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 14725 | 2018-04-23. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. 14725 - Service Update. Tie strap the ?Main? and ?BCM? branches of the body harness (near the front of dash pass-through inside the vehicle) together to prevent them from coming in contact with park brake bracket on certain 2014 and 2015 model year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles. These vehicles may have exposed body harness wires in close proximity to the parking brake bracket at the front dash pass-through inside the vehicle. The exposed body harness wires can rub against or be pinched by the brake bracket. While there is no evidence of this happening in customer vehicles, if the wires were to be sufficiently damaged from rubbing against or being pinched by the brake bracket, certain electrical systems could be affected. For example, sufficient damage to the wires could result in the loss of various exterior lights, wipers, the driver?s airbag telltale light, throttle control, defog controls, or trailer brake controls. In addition, while there is no evidence of any stalls resulting from this condition, it is possible that if the run/crank wire was sufficiently damaged, it could result in an engine stall. Depending on which circuit is damaged, a telltale or DIC message may be displayed alerting the customer that an issue exists. |

| GCUS-9-2682 | 2017-12-22. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:SUPPLY:CHECK VALVE. 17650 - Customer Advisory Letter. If this condition affects your vehicle you may noticed the CNG odor or hear a hissing sound. To check for this condition, please have a certified CNG technician inspect the manual shut-off valve in accordance with GM Service Information procedures for CNG leakage and damage. This inspection should be performed regularly as part of the updated maintenance schedule. If the inspection is performed at a GM dealership, and your vehicle is still covered under its 5 year/50,000 mile (80,000 km) Emissions Control Systems Warranty, replacement of the manual shut-off valve, if required, will be performed for you at no charge. Additionally, we are updating the maintenance schedule in the CNG supplement to your owner manual to include regular inspection of the CNG manual shut-off valve. The insert is an amendment to your supplement. Please keep this insert with your important vehicle documents for reference. |

| PIT5509B | 2017-08-31. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicle that may have a "Check Trailer Wiring" or "Service Trailer Brake System” message on the Driver Information Center when a trailer is connected to the vehicle. Diagnostic Trouble Code C1114 set in the Chassis Control Module. Chassis Control Module has to determine the type of trailer brake system that is being used. The Chassis Control Module can be sensitive to a variety of trailer wiring issues. The technician will need to make a trailer tester using Electric Trailer Brake Magnets and 7-way trailer connector to determine if it is a vehicle or trailer issue. If the concern is not duplicated with the tester installed, the vehicle is operating correctly and the focus should be on the trailer wiring or 7 way connector. |
| PIT5432 | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Shudder, bounce, bucking from the rear of the truck while braking when towing a gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer. Technician will need to measure the actual truck and trailer weights, with the trailer loaded to the point that exhibits the condition. If any weight parameter is exceeded such as the Front Gross Axle Weight Rating, Rear Gross Axle Weight Rating, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, or Gross Combined Weight Rating the load must be reduced before investigating further. If evaluation of the trailer?s brakes indicates trailer brake capability is adequate, adjust brake controller per the Trailer Gain Adjustment Procedure described in the Driving and Operating section of the Owner?s Manual and evaluate truck and trailer combination for braking shudder. |

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the step to diagnose and repair the vehicles that may have a shake or shudder during light throttle acceleration, between 30 and 65 miles per hour steady state driving. Also shudder feeling that may be described as driving over rumble strips or rough pavement. Technician will need to run the vehicle in three different operational modes. The three modes are Normal, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed. Technician will need to press and hold the tow-haul mode button for five seconds to disable grade braking to prevent downshifts during test. Technician will need to duplicate the concern in Normal mode. If the concern is gone in torque converter clutch open and closed then the torque converter should be replaced. If the concern is not present in normal mode, torque converter clutch open, and torque converter clutch closed the concern is not with the shudder. Technician should use of the PICO scope and Noise, Vibration and Harshness software can be used to confirm torque converter clutch shudder, Engine, Tire or Driveline component related conditions. Flush the cooler lines and cooler using DT-45096 transmission oil cooling system flush and flow test tool when the torque converter is replace. |

| PIT4943C | 2017-08-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0442. Technician will need to review Techlink article from May 2013 titled "Using the Evaporative Emissions System Tester" Technician will need to follow these steps to help diagnose the issue. First after the P0442 has been verified do not disturb any of the fuel system components. The technician now can use the scan tool to close the Evaporative Emissions System. If possible change the tank pressure sensor units from inch_H2O to milimeter_Hg for better resolution. Now the vehicle can be stared to monitor the tank pressure sensor output value for approximately two minutes. If the tank pressure sensor value does change, pressurize the fuel tank side of the purge solenoid with the GE 41413-A / J 41413-A and the necessary adaptors. Now add smoke and allow pressure to stabilize for 2 minutes. If smoke is allowed to pass through the purge solenoid, replace the purge solenoid. If the tank pressure sensor value does not change, then install CH-48096 adaptor between the purge line from the canister and the purge solenoid. With the Evaporative Emissions System closed, pressurize the system through the CH-48096 adaptor and allow the system to completely stabilize, by observing the Press / Vac Gauge for a minimum of 5 minutes. Now add smoke to the system with GE 41413-A / J 41413-A after system stabilization. Now inspect the purge solenoid, engine side, fuel cap, canister vent solenoid filter and any line quick connects. When the leak is unable to be located, test under a vacuum condition. his type of leak may be detected by using the scan tool Purge/Seal function to create a vacuum in the Evaporative Emissions System and then observe the FTP sensor parameter for vacuum decay. |
