PIT5245A2017-08-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that the blower motor may be noisy or vibrate when running. This concern will only occur when the temperatures is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit and if the blower motor is removed while still cold, ice may be found on the blower motor cage. This concern could be caused by water leaking or snow ingestion into the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning case. Technician is to perform normal water testing diagnostics while the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning is running, looking for water leaking past the plenum cover. If water is leaking past the cover remove the cover and install a 12x12 snow resistant screen to the fresh air intake. Reseal and install the plenum cover cap using Kent air dry sealer or equivalent.

PIP51792017-08-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have extended or long crank time during cold ambient air temperatures. Direct Injection systems run at higher pressures, and the mechanical pump on the engine must build up the required pressure before the first injection event occurs. Direct Injection engines may have slightly longer cold crank times than that of port fuel engines.
PIP5174A2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an engine extended or long crank time during ambient air temps of ?18° Celsius (0° Fahrenheit) or colder when using E85 fuel. Technician will need to use Global Diagnostic System 2 to determine the actual ethanol content of the fuel. Adding regular fuel to the tank may help resolve the concern.
PIP5104A2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a cold engine tick noise for 50 seconds at start up. Technician determines if the tick noise is possibly coming from the exhaust manifold, as this noise could easily be mistaken for an engine tick noise. If your SI diagnosis does not isolate the cause of this concern, this concern should be considered a vehicle design characteristic of the ECM calibration and no additional repairs should be performed.
PIP5130C2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician how to diagnose and repair vehicles with an engine that runs with an intermittent crank no start with a Diagnostic Trouble Code P0011 or P00C6 current or history. Technician will need to use Global Diagnostic System 2 to actuate the cam phaser solenoid 4 or 5 times then try starting the vehicle. Then disable the ignition and fuel system. After the ignition and fuel system are disabled try to start the engine. Technician can now unplug the camshaft actuator to perform the following. Install a 20A fused jumper wire between the terminal 2 and 12V. Tickle/tap the low reference terminal 1 to ground on the cam actuator magnet, while cranking the engine over. When the engine starts and runs the cam actuator or oil control valve does not need to be replaced.
PIP3343D2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an oil leak shortly after a cold start when extremely low ambient temperatures are present. Technician will need to clean the area of the oil leak, clean and dry the PCV hoses, and replace the oil fill cap with part number 12589430.
PIT5253A2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have an intermittent crank / no start concern. Technician may find a Diagnostic Trouble Code in the Engine Control Module P1682. Technician will need to follow published Service Information diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Code. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have a no crank concern. Technician will need to check the valve train for movement when the engine is cranked. If the valve train is not moving while the crankshaft is moving the front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the valve train is rotating during inspection, disconnect the Camshaft Position sensor and check if the engine will start. If the engine starts front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the engine does not start with the Camshaft Position sensor disconnected the follow published ?Engine Cranks But Does Not Run? diagnosis in Service Information. Also perform an Engine Compression Test and Cylinder Leakage Test in Service Information documents all results. If the Service Information procedures above isolate an engine mechanical concern then removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly.
