(2012 model year repair suspended) Vehicles equipped with Duramax Diesel Engine (RPO LGH or LML) and Ambulance Upfitter or Fire Truck Upfitter (RPO YF2 or ANM), may have a condition in which the emission control system as designed will limit speed under certain conditions. The EPA has approved General Motor?s request to remove the emission control system speed limitations on these emergency vehicles where applicable. Dealers are to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) with new calibration for emergency vehicles, which will remove the emission control system speed limitations, and also provide an earlier warning for Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration.
PIP4898B2017-12-22. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have an engine buzz, moan, rattle, whine, or vibration type noise that can typically be heard at idle or low revolutions per minute. The noise does not indicate a problem and will not result in damage to the pump or the engine. If the customer is dissatisfied with the oil pump whine noise replacement of the oil pump will resolve the concern.
PIP4112P2017-12-22. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician of a complaint of a sag or hesitation when accelerating. The concern is present when coasting at low speeds of less than 15 miles per hour and then aggressively applying the throttle, or after making a hard stop followed by an aggressive throttle. This is considered normal operation of the vehicle the throttle is delayed and opened slowly up to .7 seconds to help minimize driveline lash and clunking or will have approximately .5 seconds of zero torque to allow the transmission to shift to first gear.
GCUS-9-8982017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. 15457 - Special Coverage. Some 2010-2015 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles and 2011-2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD vehicles that are equipped with 6.6L Duramax Diesel engines (RPO LML or LGH) may contain a leak in the seal between the engine-exhaust down pipe and the engine-exhaust pipe. If a leak is present, the intermittent regeneration of the diesel-particulate filter may cause small amounts of diesel fuel to leak from the vehicle. It may also cause diesel-fuel vapor and engine exhaust to enter the passenger cabin. Dealers are to inspect the turbocharger exhaust pipe and the downpipe connection and implement service kit if necessary.
GCUS-3-2892017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE. 14287 - Customer Satisfaction Program. On certain 2003-2015 model year Chevrolet Express, 2003-2007 Chevrolet Silverado, 2008-2013 Chevrolet Silverado HD, 2003-2015 GMC Savana, 2003-2007 GMC Sierra 3500, and 2007-2012 GMC Sierra HD model vehicles equipped with a Duramax diesel engine and an engine-block heater (RPO YF2 and K05), continuously activating the engine-block heater through Ambulance body up fit ?shore power? may cause excessive heat buildup, cause a high-resistance short, damage the engine-block heater, or, in rare cases, melt electrical connections or cause an engine-compartment fire. Dealers are to: Replace block heater element with a revised heater equipped with EPDM O-Rings, shorter bolt and improved torque & angle. Disconnect the coolant heater from being powered whenever ?shore power? is plugged in. Add a label to the current cord, ?Avoid continuous use, for Cold Start Only?, unless the cord is damaged at either end, then replace the original cord. Provide the customer with an Owner?s Manual Insert found at the end of this bulletin.
PIP5370A2017-10-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician that some vehicle may have an ?Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor? on the Driver Information Center or a diesel exhaust fluid warning lamp on or other exhaust fluid quality related concerns. Technician will inspect the diesel exhaust fluid for contamination. Technician should use Service Information for Contaminants in Diesel Exhaust Fluid Diagnosis and use special tool J26568 or EN50422 Diesel Exhaust Fluid Refractometer for fluid testing.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have "Exhaust Fluid Low", "Exhaust Fluid Empty - Refill Now", "Exhaust Fluid Range: XXX" or "Service Exhaust Fluid - See Owners Now" on the Driver Information Center. If the technician is working on 2010 and 2011 model years campaign 11001 has now been released. Other vehicles technician will need to check the Body Control Module and the scan tool to insure the latest calibration are installed in both. Then use the scan tool to check Reductant System Data in the Engine Control Module. Ensure that all three diesel exhaust fluid level sensors are active with the diesel exhaust fluid tank level showing 100%. If the tank level is below 100% add up to 2 gallons of diesel exhaust fluid. After adding the fluid, use a scan tool to reset the reductant fluid tank level. When the reductant level warning shows "none" the diesel exhaust fluid system reset and reprogram is complete.
PIP5258A2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp on. If the technician has followed all published Service Information diagnosis and has not come to a conclusion, technician should check the oil pressure at the oil pressure sender. Then the number two cam bearing should be inspected.
PIP5069A2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a lack of power on initial acceleration from a stop when the ambient temperature is approximately 103 Fahrenheit or greater and may include engine detonation or pre-ignition type events as temperatures approach 120 Fahrenheit. Technician will need to perform published Service Information diagnosis first. If Service Information diagnosis does not isolate the cause of this concern, take a Tech 2 snapshot of the concern happening and note the Spark Parameter in the Ignition Data List. If it drops near/below 0 degrees during the concern, check if there is a cylinder that shows any knock. If there is a knock in any cylinder perform a top engine clean. If the concern is still present, then switching to premium fuel (91 octane or higher) with detergents (Top tier fuel) when ambient temperatures exceed 110 Fahrenheit degrees, this should provide a slight improvement in engine performance when ambient temperatures are high especially as temperatures approach 120 Fahrenheit degrees.
