This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may be running rough with a Malfunction Indicator Lamp on. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0300 set. Technician will need to perform an Engine Compression Testing in Service Information. If excessive leakage to the crankcase is isolated, check piston and cylinder wall condition. Technician should perform the repair per the level of damage. If the cylinder wall surface has not been compromised, only piston replacement is required.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles with the service engine soon lamp that comes on. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code U0101. Technician should review the appropriate Service Information diagnostics for DTC U0101. Also gather all other diagnostic trouble codes in the vehicle and which modules they are set in. The transmission connector pins should be checked for damaged terminals or poor terminal fit. Also inspect the under hood fuse block for damaged terminals or poor terminal fit and mis-positioned fuses in fuse block. Inspect the ground for the Transmission Control Module. Technician should refer to Service Information automatic transmission controls schematics to determine the ground identification.
PIP54722017-08-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician related to vehicles that have a Malfunction Indicator Lamp on. A technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P050D set as current or history. The technician is advised that if the engine misfires during very specific cold start conditions, to replace only the exhaust side SHLA's (Stationary Hydraulic Lash Adjuster) and to retest for the concern.

General Motors has discovered an inadvertent error in the Parts Content Information portion of the window label on certain vehicles, which displays US/Canadian Parts Content for the vehicle, and Country of Origin (COO) information for the engine and transmission on these vehicles. As a result, the label displayed incorrect parts content percentages and COO information for the engines and transmissions on these vehicles. GM will contact involved owners of the affected to notify them of the situation. This label error has no effect on the safety or operation of the vehicles. Dealers are to affix a corrected new replacement label to the vehicle.
