This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have extended or long crank time during cold ambient air temperatures. Direct Injection systems run at higher pressures, and the mechanical pump on the engine must build up the required pressure before the first injection event occurs. Direct Injection engines may have slightly longer cold crank times than that of port fuel engines.
050604022N2018-05-07. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This informational bulletin provides information on the top tier fuels that are recommended in GM vehicles.

PIP5395D2018-03-12. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have rattle or ticking noise that is louder inside the vehicle than outside. The noise may also sound like a lifter tick. If the noise is heard best at the fuel line and the sound will be real loud with a stethoscope. The fuel line will need to be replaced.
PIP5493E2018-02-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary information communicates diagnostic tips for misfires on active fuel management cylinders and engineering investigations into cylinder 6 misfire on XT5 and cylinder 4 misfire on LaCrosse both of which are 2017. Changes to Preliminary informationinclude adding MY2018, advising of calibration for previous investigation and adding pictures to identify concern.
PIP5168F2018-02-21. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT; BACK OVER PREVENTION; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have a no crank concern. Technician will need to check the valve train for movement when the engine is cranked. If the valve train is not moving while the crankshaft is moving the front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the valve train is rotating during inspection, disconnect the Camshaft Position sensor and check if the engine will start. If the engine starts front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the engine does not start with the Camshaft Position sensor disconnected the follow published “Engine Cranks But Does Not Run” diagnosis in Service Information. Also perform an Engine Compression Test and Cylinder Leakage Test in Service Information documents all results. If the Service Information procedures above isolate an engine mechanical concern then removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly.
