Technician will need to use a Tech2 to check the verify engine run time on the Engine Hour Meter in the Instrument Panel Cluster Data Display/Data 1 List in the scan tool match. If the engine run time is less than one hour, the battery may have been disconnected, or another vehicle power loss event may have occurred, during vehicle manufacturing. Technician will need to clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and perform a drive cycle. If the catalytic converter was replaced and the Diagnostic Trouble Codes set it may be a result of the engine run time restrictions no longer being in place since the vehicle is no longer new. Technician will need to clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and perform a drive cycle.

TECHNICIAN WILL USE THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION TO FIND THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION DATA PARAMETERS IN THE SCAN TOOL, AND ALSO TO PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC HELP. THESE ISSUES MAY BE CAUSED BY AN INCORRECT BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR INPUT TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. TECHNICIAN WILL VERIFY WITH THE SCAN TOOL IF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE HAS THE CORRECT PARAMETERS FOR THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. IF AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR RELEARN IS PERFORMED, THE TRUCK MAY BE TEMPORARILY REPAIRED UNTIL THE INTERMITTENT WIRING ISSUE BETWEEN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR OCCURS AGAIN. ON 2014 AND NEWER TRUCKS INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGE TO X115 AND X119. ON THE 2014 AND PREVIOUS TRUCKS INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY DAMAGE TO X205.
PIP5282A2017-05-18. Service bulletin. ENGINE. THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION ADVISES THE TECHNICIAN ABOUT THE CALCULATION AND OPERATION OF THE ENGINE OIL LIFE MONITOR. THE MONITOR CALCULATES THE PERCENT OF OIL LIFE REMAINING, BASED ON 3 PATHWAYS. THE FIRST PATHWAY FOR OIL LIFE CALCULATION IS ENGINE REVOLUTIONS. THE SECOND PATHWAY FOR OIL LIFE CALCULATION IS THE MILEAGE FORM THE LAST REST FOR ALL GENERAL MOTORS POWERTRAINS EXCEPT THE VOLT. THE THIRD PATHWAY FOR OIL LIFE CALCULATION IS THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE OIL IS IN THE ENGINE. THE VOLT USES A 2 YEAR TIMER INSTEAD OF 1 YEAR. IT ALSO USES THE ENGINE REVOLUTION COUNTER. IT DOES NOT USE THE MILEAGE PATHWAY TO COUNT DOWN.
PIP5211F2017-05-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE. THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE TECHNICIAN THE STEPS NEEDED TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR VEHICLES WITH A ROUGH IDLE AND/OR VIBRATION AT IDLE IN DRIVE. THIS CONDITION WILL NOT BE PRESENT IN PARK, OR NEUTRAL. THIS CONCERN MAY BE CAUSED BY GROUND OUT WITHIN THE ONE OR BOTH ENGINE MOUNTS. TECHNICIAN WILL USE CH-51450-A (PICO OSCILLOSCOPE) TO MEASURE THE VIBRATION DISTURBANCE. IF THE VIBRATION CONCERN IS E1.5 IN THE HORIZONTAL / LATERAL DIRECTION WITH PICO SENSOR MOUNTED IN SEAT TRACK AS INDICATED – CONTINUE WITH STEPS TO REDUCE THE AMPLITUDE OF THE VIBRATION BY ADDING SPACERS IN KEY LOCATIONS TO REDUCE GROUND OUT WITHIN THE ENGINE MOUNTS. THE 6.2L ENGINE HAS A CHARACTERISTIC E1 WHICH CAN BE FELT, AND MAY BE DESCRIBED AS A LOPEY IDLE. DO NOT CONFUSE 6.2L E1 CHARACTERISTIC (NOT CAUSED BY MOUNT GROUND-OUT), WITH E1.5 NORMAL IDLE CHARACTERISTICS BEING TRANSMITTED INTO THE TRUCK VIA GROUND-OUT THRU THE ENGINE MOUNTS.
