This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that the engine stops running after extended idle with shifter in park. Dealer should communicate to the customer this condition is a normal operating characteristic of their vehicle. If the customer exits the vehicle with the fob in their possession while the engine is running and the shifter is left in park, the engine will shut off after 2.5 hours. If the customer is sitting in the vehicle with the engine running and the fob is in the vehicle, the Passive Entry Passive Start system will reach out and look for the fob after 2.5 hours. If the fob is located, the timer will reset an additional 2.5 hours.

PIP5062B2017-08-15. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ENGINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that have check engine light and a misfire. Technician will find a P0300 set. If the misfiring cylinder is creating NO or very low power, technician will need to follow these diagnostics steps. 1) Swap the ignition coil and spark plug with another cylinder. 2) Inspect the plug when out for wet or dry condition. 3) Perform an injector test with a scan tool. 4) If the plug is wet then check for a leaking or stuck open injector. 5) If the plug is dry then enrich the intake air with propane. If the severity of the misfire is less with enrichment, suspect a weak or inoperative injector driver in the Engine Control Module and replace as needed. 6) Perform a cylinder leakage test to determine if there is a valve sealing concern. If there is a valve sealing concern see the latest version of PIP5029 for recommendations.

Technician will find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0011 and or P0014. Technician will need to remove the camshaft solenoids and inspect the screens for debris. Technician will need to clean off the screens with brake cleaner if debris is present. If code resets or the screen did not have debris on them, remove the camshaft actuator associated with the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and with light air pressure, blow out the oil passages through the camshaft actuator solenoid port. Lubricate the camshaft solenoid seal(s) with clean engine oil and reinstall and install a new camshaft actuator associated with the Diagnostic Trouble Code.
PIP4959D2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with information regarding high misfire rates always on #1 cylinder. A customer may complain of misfires or roughness on cold start up with a P0300 diagnostic trouble code. Technician is to add coolant dye to the system and run the engine through warm up to circulate the dye. Pressurize the cooling system after a cold soak and inspect the cylinder with a bore scope for coolant dye. Dye is used to identify coolant over residual fuel being that might be left in the cylinder. The technician is not to replace the cylinder head as it will not correct this concern. In some cases it is necessary to remove the head for inspection. Do not replace the engine for small surface pock marks or a pitting appearance this is normal and do not connect to coolant passages. Usually if porosity is present there will be a break in the carbon ring. Only replace the engine if true porosity is found. Technician is to call Product Quality Center with the latest version of bulletin 02-07-30-029 if porosity is found and engine replacement is required.
PIP5095B2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon and may also have an oil or coolant leak. Technician may find coolant or oil in a spark plug tube. If the Spark Plug Tube is leaking and it is determined that the oil or coolant is not coming from a leak above the spark plug then replace the cylinder Head, spark plug and coil.
PIP5029E2017-08-15. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT:MECHANICAL. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Malfunction Indicator Lamp on or engine misfire, rough idle, extended crank, or crank no start in some cases.
