BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2018-2020 RnineT Scrambler and RnineT, 2020 R1250R and R1250RS, 2019-2020 Rnine T Pure, R1250GS,R1250GS Adventure and R1250RT and 2018 RnineT Racer motorcycles. The brake fluid reservoir cap may not clearly state the required type of brake fluid and the process for filling the reservoir, possibly leading to an improper maintenance procedure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 122, "Motorcycle Brake Systems." |

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2020 F900R, F900XR, S1000RR, F750GS, F850GS, F850GS Adventure, R1250GS, R1250GS Adventure, R1250RS, R1250R, RnineT, RnineT Pure and RnineT Scrambler and 2019-2020 S1000R motorcycles. The brake light may flash instead of remain steady during emergency braking. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." |
| 2020120 | 2020-03-20. Brakes. Issue: This recall affects certain motorcycles equipped with optional colour-specific brake fluid reservoir covers. Canadian regulations require that certain safety information is provided on the brake fluid reservoir cover. On these motorcycles, that information may be missing or difficult to read. This could lead to improper maintenance of the brake system, like using the wrong type of brake fluid. Safety Risk: Improper maintenance of the brake system could lead to brake problems and create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the brake fluid reservoir cover. |

Canadian regulations require the stop lamp to stay on constantly while braking. Safety Risk: A flashing stop lamp could cause confusion for other drivers. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to update the stop lamp software, so that the stop lamp does not flash during emergency braking. |
