Service bulletins for the 2017 BMW F 800 GS

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

17 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

MC33004142018-11-13. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. BMW Motorrad has ascertained that faulty washers [see (2) and (4) in the illustration] were fitted on the threaded fastener of the swinging-arm axle. The washers are too large (inside and outside diameters are 2 mm oversize). This can result in the threaded fastener not being sufficiently preloaded, however, it is not possible for the threaded fastener to work loose because the nut is self locking (captive).

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
