Service bulletins for the 2020 BMW 740i

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

238 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

During the normal operation of the vehicle, there is a certain amount of coolant absorption by the various components/gaskets/seals contained within the coolant systems. Over time, the coolant absorption can cause the coolant level to fall below the maximum fill level in the reservoir. In some cases, the level may even fall low enough to cause the high-temperature circuit low coolant level warning light to illuminate, along with displaying the corresponding Check Control message.
