Poor Satellite Radio reception CAUSE After this software update there is a slight improvement in Satellite Radio reception for these vehicles when receiving their signal from XM Satellites. This is due to the changeover from Sirius Satellite broadcasting to XM Satellite broadcasting in 2016 (See SI B65 19 15).

B6403162018-12-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. "Air Conditioning Refrigerant R1234yf Introduction. Highlights of R-1234yf Meets SAE J2888_201301 ""This SAE Standard covers fittings, couplers, and hoses intended for connecting service hoses from mobile air- conditioning Systems to service equipment such as charging, recovery and recycling equipment"" New tools and equipment are required. To service vehicles equipped with R-1234yf refer to SI B04 02 16. Air conditioning technician certification is required to work on system. Refer to your State Law. Unique low and high side fittings. Revised evaporator core as per SAE J2842. System will use about 5% more refrigerant than a comparable R134a system. System oil is a specific PAG oil. Refer to ISTA repair recommendation. Do not interchange components between systems using other refrigerants. Do not reuse Seals / O-ring material from another system. The system piping has internal heat exchangers (IHX or IWT) as introduced in the G12 (7 series). SAFETY INFORMATION Several precautions need to be observed when working on automotive air conditioning systems: Always wear eye protection and gloves while handling refrigerant or servicing air conditioning system. Avoid breathing R1234yf lubricant vapor or mist. Use only approved service equipment to discharge A/C systems. If refrigerant or compressor oil contacts the skin or eyes, large quantities of cool water should be used to flush the affected area. Never heat a refrigerant container with an open flame. Keep all refrigerant away from open flames. Under no circumstances should R1234yf service equipment or vehicle A/C systems be pressure tested or leak tested with air/R1234yf mixtures. NOTE: The use of compressed air (shop air) for leak detection in an R1234yf system can contaminate the system and/or refrigerant with moisture. SI B11 26 15 March 2016 Engine Technical Service This Service Information Bulletin supersedes SI B11 26 15 dated February 2016. The upper crankshaft guide bearing may wear out prematurely. The wear on the upper guide bearing can cause the clutch pedal to malfunction during shifting. The Engine Malfunction warning may be illuminated and a fault will be stored in the DME memory for the crankshaft sensor. Noise may be heard from the lower engine and transmission bell housing area. Engine damage can occur in rare occasions.

Connectivity failure examples are: Call disconnection - Call is transferred back to the handset. In some instances the call is then transferred back to the vehicle. SUBJECT N20, N26, N55, N63TU, S63TU and S55 Engines: Bosch Injector ETK Part Number Error. The current version of the ETK incorporates multiple part number errors for the Bosch type injectors. Ordering the injectors by VIN number or manual identification in ETK may result in an incorrect part number.

SUBJECT Fault Code 1D2008 Stored in DME. The Service Engine Soon light is on. Fault Code 1D2008: Map thermostat: jammed open is stored in the DME. There may also be a complaint of low heat output with lower outside temperatures. CAUSE During the engine warm-up, the engine coolant does not reach operating temperature within the DME's allowable time limits. This is caused by either a faulty thermostat inside the transmission oil heat exchanger or a faulty engine characteristic map thermostat.

Customers may be receiving onscreen messages concerning updates of their navigation system. Database mapping procedure in vehicles with the NBT EVO Head Unit (Head Unit high 2) has been changed to automatic, periodic, Over- the-Air (OTA), regional, incremental updates. INFORMATION Customers may not be familiar with the messages seen prior to, during, and after this update which may prompt inquiries. The following information provides an overview of the automatic OTA process that has replaced the previously required BMW center visit for navigation map updates. UPDATE DETAILS Updates can occur up to 4 times per year, ensuring that customers have the newest map data available. At a minimum, updates occur during first 2 years of vehicle ownership at no additional charge to the customer. At additional customers expense updates can also occur for up to 4 years (depending upon vehicle retail date and BMW assist options selected). The message ""Device not supported"" is displayed in the CID after connecting a USB device to the USB port using a USB cable. 2. The ""USB option"" in the menu cannot be selected (grayed out), after the vehicle was programmed with ISTA/P 2.50.2, or 2.50.3: I-Level F020-13-07-503, or F020-13-07-505. CAUSE 1. Incompatible USB cable is being used 2. Head Unit Basic software error 1 The following procedure should be performed for ""Situation 1, Cause 1"" listed above: Part A (Steps 1 to 3) 1. Duplicate the issue. 2. Verify that the USB cable which is being used, is the original cable for the device and not an aftermarket cable. 3. If the issue is resolved when using an original USB cable supplied by the manufacturer of the device, do not perform step 4 listed below. No further action is required. Part B (Step 4) 4.If the issue is still present when using the original cable from the device manufacturer, proceed to program and code the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.51.0 or higher. ? I-Level after programming would be F020-13-11-501, or higher. Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software. 6406132018-12-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. A/C Cooling: Intermittent Reduction of Air Flow. The customer may complain of reduced air flow when the air conditioning system is operated for an extended time, usually longer than one hour. The complaint can vary due to one or more of the following variables: * High outside ambient temperature * Too much humidity * A/C temperature and fan settings set too low for too long Note: It is very difficult to duplicate this issue due the required outdoor weather conditions and length of driving time needed. CAUSE Evaporator starts to freeze up due to the position of the evaporator temperature sensor
