Service bulletins for the 2021 Bentley Continental

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

New Continental GT/GTC, New Flying Spur and Bentayga Speed - Low Oil Pressure Warning During Early Vehicle Life Customer statement/workshop findings: Warning on the Driver Instrument Panel (DIP) - Oil pressure too low DTCs relating to oil pressure may also be stored within the Master ECU. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P052400: Engine Oil Pressure Too Low and/or P15AA00: Engine oil pressure -Lower limit not reached stored in the Master Engine Control Unit (ECU) Technical background: CAUTION: DO NOT CONTINUE WITH THIS DOCUMENT IF THE ENGINE EXHIBITS ANY ABNORMAL MECHANICAL NOISE OR HAS AN ENGINE LUBRICATING OIL LEAK SEEK FURTHER ADVICE THROUGH A NEW OR EXISTING DISS QUERY
2049586/72020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Misfiring, W12 TSI - Excessive carbon build up cylinder leakage. Customer statement/workshop findings: Customer statement: Emission control warning signal displayed, engine misfire Workshop findings: Event entries in engine control unit relating to cylinder misfires – excessive carbon build up to leading to cylinder leakage and spark plug foul Technical background: Deviations in the country-specific fuel specifications can lead to carbon deposits on the injectors. If pronounced these deposits can lead to spark plug fouling, cylinder leakage and fouled injectors all influencing combustion in the cylinder. As a result the above event entries are logged in the engine control unit
2057978/42020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Engine Lubricating Oil - Replenishment. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine lubricating oil lamp illuminated on driver instrument panel. Engine lubricating oil requires topping up between services. Technical background: In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified running-in periods consume more oil during the running-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the running-in period. Refer to the Owners Manual for specific running-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue, and the oxidation level of the oil. Certain driving conditions may negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.
2050334/62020-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Ticking noise from engine bay. Customer statement/workshop findings: Ticking noise emanating from rear of Bank 1 cylinder head Technical background: Noise from failed vacuum pump
2060596/12020-10-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. Transmission DTC - U040100 50273/C461 Invalid Data Received From ECM/PCM 'A'. Customer statement / workshop findings: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U040100 50273/C461 Invalid Data Received From ECM/PCM "A" stored within the Transmission Control Unit. Technical background: During Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) brake to stop events, it is possible for the brake pressure to decay at a rate outside of specified parameters, DTC - U040100 50273/C461 Invalid Data Received From ECM/PCM "A" will therefore be stored within the Transmission Control Unit. When the DTC is stored the Customer will not be aware, there will be no warning from the Driver Instrument Panel (DIP) and no effect on performance of the vehicle. Measure: If the DTC is found to be stored within the Transmission Control Unit check the status, if it is Passive / Inactive, the DTC should be ignored and no further action taken. If the DTC is Static / Active, then this should be treated as a genuine vehicle fault, analysis and repair of the fault should therefore be carried out.

Customer statement / workshop findings: All complaints which are related to radio reception issues Technical background: Complaints about the radio reception can have many causes. The radio reception strength/quality at the vehicle location can be an important issue. To process such complaints as effectively as possible it is important to precisely record the circumstances when a complaint occurs. The attached check list is available for this purpose. Please ensure the instructions within the Measure section are strictly adhered to
