Service bulletins for the 2021 Bentley Continental

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

2053170/62020-11-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Gear shift optimisation procedure - W12 TSI only. Customer statement / workshop findings: Customer reporting dissatisfaction with transmission shift quality in various driving conditions Prior to starting the instructions within this TPI, the Retailer must check and confirm the vehicle is in standard factory condition and has not had any non- approved aftermarket modifications conducted including the modification of the engine control modules ( chip tuning) Should any aftermarket modifications be found, the Retailer must make Product Support aware by raising a DISS query to report the details of the modification, you must then await feedback from Product Support before conducting any further repairs relating to the shift quality complaint Technical background: IMPORTANT: To allow the engine and transmission to adapt to the customers driving style the vehicle MUST either have covered at least 1000 miles/1600 Km or must have been used over a six week period (which ever occurs first) before carrying out the instructions within this TPI
2053351/62020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Buzzing noise from engine area. Customer statement / workshop findings Workshop findings: Buzzing noise heard at idle from the sump area when the vehicle is elevated on a workshop ramp. The noise cannot be heard from inside the cabin or outside of the vehicle in normal circumstances. Technical background: A buzzing noise can be generated by the oil pump when the engine is running at idle.
2058423/42020-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. New Continental GT/GTC, New Flying Spur and Bentayga Speed - Low Oil Pressure Warning During Early Vehicle Life Customer statement/workshop findings: Warning on the Driver Instrument Panel (DIP) - Oil pressure too low DTCs relating to oil pressure may also be stored within the Master ECU. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P052400: Engine Oil Pressure Too Low and/or P15AA00: Engine oil pressure -Lower limit not reached stored in the Master Engine Control Unit (ECU) Technical background: CAUTION: DO NOT CONTINUE WITH THIS DOCUMENT IF THE ENGINE EXHIBITS ANY ABNORMAL MECHANICAL NOISE OR HAS AN ENGINE LUBRICATING OIL LEAK SEEK FURTHER ADVICE THROUGH A NEW OR EXISTING DISS QUERY
2049586/72020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Misfiring, W12 TSI - Excessive carbon build up cylinder leakage. Customer statement/workshop findings: Customer statement: Emission control warning signal displayed, engine misfire Workshop findings: Event entries in engine control unit relating to cylinder misfires – excessive carbon build up to leading to cylinder leakage and spark plug foul Technical background: Deviations in the country-specific fuel specifications can lead to carbon deposits on the injectors. If pronounced these deposits can lead to spark plug fouling, cylinder leakage and fouled injectors all influencing combustion in the cylinder. As a result the above event entries are logged in the engine control unit
2057978/42020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Engine Lubricating Oil - Replenishment. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine lubricating oil lamp illuminated on driver instrument panel. Engine lubricating oil requires topping up between services. Technical background: In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified running-in periods consume more oil during the running-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the running-in period. Refer to the Owners Manual for specific running-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue, and the oxidation level of the oil. Certain driving conditions may negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.
2050334/62020-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Ticking noise from engine bay. Customer statement/workshop findings: Ticking noise emanating from rear of Bank 1 cylinder head Technical background: Noise from failed vacuum pump
2060205/22020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine Cooling System - DTC P218100 - V8 Kovomo Technical background: It is possible for the engine coolant Thermostat to corrode over time, this corrosion is due to an adverse reaction of the Thermostat material with the engine coolant. The corrosion and subsequent build-up of debris prevents the correct operation of the thermostat when closing, resulting in over cooling. The ECM triggers a DTC when the target engine temperature is outside of the specified parameter
2028808/42020-08-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine oil. Specific oil type and oil consumption reference. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine oil level requires to:p up between services. Technical background The use of the correct oil for each engine type is critical for its continued performance, reliability and ultimately warranty. The workshop manual should always be the first point of reference, ensuring the correct lubricant is used for each specific model year and engine type Should oil be required the parts catalogue must be referred to ensuring the correct VIN is always used when ordering
2051187/52020-01-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Condition: Poor engine running, reduced power, engine warning lamp illuminated. Technical Background: Technical Product Information (TPI) to assist Retailers when diagnosing poor engine running or misfires. Service: The following TPI should be carried out sequentially to ensure the root cause and analysis of the concern are identified without unnecessary work or repetitive actions taking place.
