Service bulletins for the 2017 Bentley Continental

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Measure VERY IMPORTANT: Prior to conducting the onward instructions, the following symptoms MUST be evident - Warning on Driver Instrument Panel (DIP) Oil pressure too low And/or - Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P052400: Engine Oil Pressure Too Low and/or P15AA00: Engine oil pressure - Lower limit not reached stored in the Master Engine Control Unit (ECU) Should any of the afore mentioned not be evident and the symptoms cannot be reproduced. No further action should be taken unless the issue can be reproduced or demonstrated by the customer. In the event the symptom/s are evident please conduct the onward Diagnosis Instructions
2053351/72021-10-06. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; STRUCTURE. Buzzing noise from engine area. Customer statement / workshop findings Workshop findings: Buzzing noise heard at idle from the sump area when the vehicle is elevated on a workshop ramp. The noise cannot be heard from inside the cabin or outside of the vehicle in normal circumstances. Technical background: A buzzing noise can be generated by the oil pump when the engine is running at idle. Measure: Test a comparable vehicle with the same Engine derivative. If the same noise is apparent on the comparable vehicle and no oil pressure warnings or relevant DTCs are stored then the noise can be considered a characteristic of the vehicle and no further action should be taken.
2050334/72021-10-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Ticking noise from engine bay. Customer statement / workshop findings: Ticking noise emanating from rear of Bank 1 cylinder head Technical background: Noise from failed vacuum pump. Measure: A specific vacuum pump failure is known to create a ticking noise. This ticking noise, on initial inspection, is easily misinterpreted as a fault in the valve train or fuel injector, when in reality it is more likely to be produced by a defective vacuum pump. Therefore always ensure that this type of noise is identified precisely using a stethoscope. Specifically use the stethoscope to check the vacuum pump located at the rear of Bank 1 cylinder head, when this is found to be the origin of the noise then change the vacuum pump and retest.
2051187/62021-10-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Poor Engine Running Complaints (Misfires) Petrol Engines Only. Customer statement / workshop findings: Poor engine running, reduced power, engine warning lamp illuminated. Technical background: Technical Product Information (TPI) to assist Retailers when diagnosing poor engine running or misfire. Measure: The following TPI should be carried out sequentially to ensure the root cause and analysis of the concern are identified without unnecessary work or repetitive actions taking place.
2028808/52021-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Service info: Engine oil Specific oil type and oil consumption reference. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine oil level requires top up between services Technical background: The use of the correct oil for each engine type is critical for its continued performance, reliability and ultimately warranty. The workshop manual should always be the first point of reference, ensuring the correct lubricant is used for each specific model year and engine type Should oil be required the parts catalogue must be referred to ensuring the correct VIN is always used when ordering
