Service bulletins for the 2015 Bentley Continental

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Customer statement / workshop findings: Poor engine running, reduced power, engine warning lamp illuminated. Technical background: Technical Product Information (TPI) to assist Retailers when diagnosing poor engine running or misfire. Measure: The following TPI should be carried out sequentially to ensure the root cause and analysis of the concern are identified without unnecessary work or repetitive actions taking place.
2028808/52021-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Service info: Engine oil Specific oil type and oil consumption reference. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine oil level requires top up between services Technical background: The use of the correct oil for each engine type is critical for its continued performance, reliability and ultimately warranty. The workshop manual should always be the first point of reference, ensuring the correct lubricant is used for each specific model year and engine type Should oil be required the parts catalogue must be referred to ensuring the correct VIN is always used when ordering
2047762/42020-08-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Continental Series and Flying Spur - Camshaft Timing Over Advanced - V8T. Customer statement/workshop findings: Check engine warning lamp illuminated on Drivers Instrument Panel. DTCs stored within the Engine Control Module (ECM) Technical background: Internal failure of Inlet or Exhaust Camshaft Adjuster may result in Malfunction Indicator Lamp illumination and DTCs stored within the ECM
2028808/42020-08-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine oil. Specific oil type and oil consumption reference. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine oil level requires to:p up between services. Technical background The use of the correct oil for each engine type is critical for its continued performance, reliability and ultimately warranty. The workshop manual should always be the first point of reference, ensuring the correct lubricant is used for each specific model year and engine type Should oil be required the parts catalogue must be referred to ensuring the correct VIN is always used when ordering
2042494/42020-05-06. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. V8T- Oil leak between engine and gearbox. Condition: Oil loss/drips on underbody, engine oil loss between engine and gearbox Technical Background: Oil loss via thread of fasteners in crankshaft used to attach torque convertor drive plate/flywheel. New bolt specified with thread sealer pre applied, part number WHT005487A.
2028808/32020-01-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Service info: Engine oil Specific oil type and oil consumption dealer reference Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine oil level requires top up between services Technical background: The introduction of the Bentley Continental GT V8 brings a new engine to the Bentley family. This all new 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo joins the 6.0 litre W12 in the Continental range with the 6.75 litre V8 reserved for the Mulsanne. Each of these three engines had individual design criteria producing unique driving characteristics as a result each have individual lubrication requirements and oil consumption statistics. With the 4.0 litre V8 comes a new oil to Bentley - this new engine lubricant must only be used in the 4.0 litre V8. The use of the correct oil for each engine is critical to its continued performance, reliability and ultimately warranty. Therefor the workshop manual should always be the first point of reference ensuring the correct lubricant is used for each specific model year and engine type
2041495/12020-01-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Misfiring, 4.0l TFSI Customer statement / workshop findings: Customer statement: Engine warning light on. Workshop findings: Event entry under diagnosis address 01: P0300 misfiring P030X - misfiring on cylinder X (X corresponds with cylinders 1-8) Technical background: Deviations in the country-specific fuel specifications can lead to carbon deposits on the injectors. If pronounced, these deposits can change the injection pattern and therefore influence the combustion in the cylinder. As a result the above event entries are logged in the engine control unit.
2042051/12020-01-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Engine control unit software update (SC15/16) Technical background: Extremely dynamic track driving, for further vehicle development, reported a small number of flashing MIL events. Further investigation found, under specific circumstances, very high engine speed gear changes, achieved during track use, resulted in misfires being detected. Remedy: An engine calibration has been developed which rectifies the above issues. This calibration has been introduced as a field fix and should be loaded into the engine control module using the following process.
2041919/12020-01-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Technical background: Revised engine and transmission software. Remedy: Revised software has been developed. This software is to be loaded into the gearbox and engine control modules using the following process
2051187/52020-01-09. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Condition: Poor engine running, reduced power, engine warning lamp illuminated. Technical Background: Technical Product Information (TPI) to assist Retailers when diagnosing poor engine running or misfires. Service: The following TPI should be carried out sequentially to ensure the root cause and analysis of the concern are identified without unnecessary work or repetitive actions taking place.
2053177/62020-01-09. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Condition: Customer will not be aware of any fault codes. Workshop may discover spurious fault codes whilst running a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) log as part of other investigations on the vehicle. Technical Background: The attached document contains all of the current known Spurious DTCs for all vehicle variants. Should a particular TPI be listed as Archived within the attached document the TPI can no longer be viewed within Elsa pro, in this case please refer to the instructions with the attached document regarding the DTC description and actions (if any) which should be conducted Service: During routine diagnostic interrogation of vehicle systems use the attached document to determine the course of action to be taken.
