Service bulletins for the 2013 Bentley Continental
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Air spring fault finding Customer Statement: -The front and/or rear suspension appears to have dropped Technical Background: -Bentley vehicles which are applicable to this TPI are fitted with air springs as part of the suspension system. Should air leak from the air spring dampers, this will cause the suspension to drop. However, the dropping of the suspension does not necessarily mean that the air spring is faulty. -The Measure section of this TPI describes how and where to check for air leaks on the front and rear air springs, the air supply unit, pipes, valve unit and air reservoirs. This includes potential air leak points on the air spring dampers and also the locations of an air leak that can be repaired without the need to replace an air spring damper. |

Customer statement / workshop findings: Air bag warning displayed. Measure: To be applied to applicable cars exhibiting fault codes as detailed above. Although the fault codes may only be appertaining to one side of the car at the time of complaint the new harness must be fitted in its entirety, integrated into both the drivers and front passengers seat belt real assembly. The procedure consists of electrically disconnecting the original wires connecting the air bag control module to the front seat belt reels. This is done by cutting off the ends of the connectors at the seat belt reel end and de-pinning the main connector housing at the control module end, the redundant wires are then taped back into the main harness. The new harness is then connected to the components and secured to the main harness. |

Customer statement / workshop findings: In the event a customer complaint is received relating to a suspicion that control units or services have been influenced by third parties the instructions within this TPI should be followed. Technical background: A suspicion that control units or services have been influenced by third parties means that unauthorised people or groups may have gained access to a vehicle's control unit(s) or online services and may have manipulated them in such a way that may compromise customer data confidentiality or the operation of the vehicle and/or online services. When investigating potential third party influences of control units or online services, it is important to take all normal diagnostic measures to rule out a normal functional error or misuse of the system by the user |

Condition Front seat belt system presenter intermittent in operation Technical Background The front seat cushions occupancy sensor may intermittently, dependant on occupant size and posture, fail to deploy the seat belt presenter. This can be attributed to changes in the sensor status from occupant present to occupant not present during the process of entering the car, closing the door and shifting load applied onto the seat. Service In the event of a customer reporting front seat belt presenter intermittent operation then the following procedure should be considered as part of your diagnosis 1. If the fault occurs with a petite, low percentile person (approximately 5th percentile) then only Operation 2 is valid for a system improvement Note: The following details the process for the right hand front seat the same procedure should be performed on the left hand front seat at the same time even if the presenter function is not suspect on the adjacent seat 2. Endeavour to qualify the customer concern ensure that the concern fits the criteria for this TPI. |

Condition: The front seat belt webbing is twisted, this is evident in both the stowed position and also when the seat belt is worn. Technical Background The seat belt webbing twists on retraction, this is due to the gap between the seat belt webbing guide and the webbing being out of tolerance. The modification within this TPI should be applied to both the right and left hand side regardless if only one side is at fault. IMPORTANT: During this TPI the workshop manual is quoted to help in carrying out various tasks, it is recommended that the procedures referenced are checked by the operative as the process within the workshop manual may have changed since last viewed. |
