Service bulletins for the 2021 Bentley Bentayga

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

2061369/12020-12-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Engine overheating - Warning on the DIP - V8 Kovomo. Customer statement / workshop findings: -Customer reports an engine overheat warning on the DIP -Engine overheats -Unusual cooling fan operation at high temperatures -There are no signs of coolant leaks both internally or externally Technical background: To heat the engine as quickly as possible during cold starting, delivery of coolant by the coolant pump is interrupted in the warm-up phase by the solenoid for the mechanical coolant pump. The solenoid is designed to cut off the vacuum supply to the coolant pump when the engine reaches the maximum temperature, the vacuum cut off allows the engine to start circulating coolant by retracting a sleeve which is situated around the coolant pump impeller. When the solenoid is at fault (sticking open) the vacuum supply is constant, this allows the sleeve to stay in position around the impellor which leads to the symptoms described within the Customer statement/Workshop findings section of this TPI.

Customer statement/workshop findings: Customer statement: Emission control warning signal displayed, engine misfire Workshop findings: Event entries in engine control unit relating to cylinder misfires – excessive carbon build up to leading to cylinder leakage and spark plug foul Technical background: Deviations in the country-specific fuel specifications can lead to carbon deposits on the injectors. If pronounced these deposits can lead to spark plug fouling, cylinder leakage and fouled injectors all influencing combustion in the cylinder. As a result the above event entries are logged in the engine control unit
2057978/42020-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Engine Lubricating Oil - Replenishment. Customer statement / workshop findings: Engine lubricating oil lamp illuminated on driver instrument panel. Engine lubricating oil requires topping up between services. Technical background: In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified running-in periods consume more oil during the running-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the running-in period. Refer to the Owners Manual for specific running-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, ambient temperature and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue, and the oxidation level of the oil. Certain driving conditions may negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.
2050334/62020-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Ticking noise from engine bay. Customer statement/workshop findings: Ticking noise emanating from rear of Bank 1 cylinder head Technical background: Noise from failed vacuum pump
2060557/12020-10-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Wifi function not activated within the TSR (SC 20/24). Technical background The Touch Screen Remote (TSR) is unable to determine its current Wifi state, the TSR Wifi should be activated by ODIS during PDI process (for example), However previous ODIS versions do not allow this, leaving some TSR features unavailable Once activated, more features are available, for example the ability to change the Media and the Radio station from the TSR. NOTE: Please see the onward examples regarding Wifi activation confirmation for New Flying Spur and Bentayga New Flying Spur NOTE: Figures 1 and 2 are examples only, the image may look different depending on the specification of the audio system Referring to Figure 1 - The red cross shows an example of a partially functional TSR (Without Wifi activation Please Note - The Function currently not available message )

Customer statement / workshop findings: The washer fluid low warning lamp in the dash insert is lit up although there is sufficient washer fluid in the reservoir. Workshop findings: The customer statement can be reproduced. Technical background The conductibility of the washer fluid can be significantly lowered by the following factors. As a result, the water level switch of the washer fluid low warning lamp can be activated although the washer fluid reservoir is sufficiently full. Washer fluid additives which do not meet the following specification During winter conditions a solution of 30% isopropyl alcohol and 70% water should be used (or appropriate alternative). This washer fluid and water mixture will provide frost protection down to a temperature of approximately 10 degrees C (14 degrees F). Frozen washer fluid. Distilled water.
