| A871447 2010146- | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-27 dated April 24, 2012. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed. |

| A901451 2021151- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-63 dated October 4, 2012. The customer may report flickering of the dash insert lighting, of the A/C control panel lighting, or of the inside light. The condition occurs when the accelerator is pressed while the vehicle is in P or N, or when the vehicle is shifted down when moving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off when the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly-increased voltage, causing the lights to flicker. |

Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices. |
| A911392 2030947- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding. |
| A461347 2034387- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated. |
| A911374 2024323- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. | A011369 2028344- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 12-57 dated October 29, 2012. Noises/inconsistent engine operation after cold start during the catalyst heating phase. The customer may interpret this engine roughness as misfiring. To comply with the legal requirements on exhaust gas emissions according to the LEV-1 and LEV-2 standards, a high exhaust gas quality must be ensured. The necessary catalyst only operates at a temperature over 300°C (572°F). To achieve this, the catalyst is heated up. The catalyst heating phase is achieved by a late ignition angles and by introducing additional fresh air to the exhaust valves (secondary air system). Late ignition angles make sure that the exhaust gas from the cylinders has a higher temperature. This exhaust gas includes fuel that is un-burnt, and was deliberately injected into great quantities. The secondary air system adds fresh air to the exhaust gas as it leaves the cylinder and the extra fuel is burnt. As a result, the temperatures of the exhaust gas and of the catalyst increase quickly. The afterburning in the exhaust manifold before the catalyst changes the sound characteristic of the engine. This heating-up of the catalyst, including afterburning, is normal and has no effect on the service life of the engine. During this catalyst heating phase, the engine has increased idle speed, may have increased vibrations, and has a different sound characteristic. Depending on conditions, the time of the catalyst heating phase varies. |

The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer?s door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 model years 2005?2006 and A3 model year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer?s HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter?s programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal. |

DO NOT use this TSB if there is another TSB for same concern applicable to the VIN. This TSB is only intended for diagnostic purposes and does not serve as a guideline for determining warrantable conditions. Customer may report that the steering wheel vibrates or pulsates when the brakes are applied. driving style, environmental conditions, and service history of the vehicle. Additionally, as brake pads and discs wear, their dampening ability is reduced. Disc thickness variation (DTV) is a common condition that contributes to brake pulsation. DTV occurs when the two braking surfaces of the brake disc are no longer parallel to each other. This condition cannot be accurately measured with normal workshop tools. |
